Some of 2004 movies were expected to become box office bombs, but finally can make profit.

Some people in HSX talk about this topic, I think that it is interesting to talk. Would you people like to [suggest] some movies?

I think that those movies made some people (and me) surprised:

You Got Served
The Prince and Me
The Notebook
Saved!
Garfield: The Movie
King Arthur
Shall We Dance
What the #$*! Do We Know?!
The Polar Express

I knew Garfield would be a hit.

I expected Saved!, The Notebook, and The Polar Express to be modest hits.

King Arthur would still be a bomb, wouldn't it?

White Chicks was a very underpredicted movie. That's one movie I knew for sure would make over $60 million.

Yup. I just remembered National Treasure. I think the majority of people didn't expect over $100 million, let alone $150+ million.

KING ARTHUR is a $120 million production that grossed $201 million worldwide. I was surprised how well it did oversea.

By the way, can I add DARKNESS and FAT ALBERT on the list?

Yeah, but studios only get about 25% of the overseas run. It's still not nearly enough to compensate for the huge costs.

Normally you can take about 45% of a movies worldwide gross and that is the studios take.

In this case it will turn a fairly large profit when it hits DVD.
