Post Theatre Counts (November 5th)
Openers:

The Incredibles - 3933
Alfie - 2215
After the Sunset - 1,000 sneaks on 11/6
The Polar Express - 533 sneaks on 11/6
Fade to Black - 170
Callas Forever - 6

Expanding:

Shall We Dance - 2,542 +66
Saw - 2,467 +152
Ray - 2,458 +452
The Motorcycle Diaries - 268 +4
Vera Drake -93 +6
Sideways Fox Searchlight 66 +50
Vanity Fair - 57 +1
The Machinist - 13 +5

Decreasing:

The Grudge - 3336 -12
Shark Tale - 2,817 -564
Friday Night Lights - 2,160 -844
Team America: World Police - 1,702 -633
Ladder 49 - 1,670 -712
Surviving Christmas - 1,519 -1,236
Taxi - 1,099 -785
The Forgotten - 882 -853
I Heart Huckabees - 585 -316
Birth - 550 0
Napoleon Dynamite - 271 -116
The Bourne Supremacy - 257 -20
Shaun of the Dead - 256 -260

Really sad to see Shaun of the Dead losing so many theatres :( Seriously, I am not happy with Focus recently. They messed up Shaun of the Dead's chances to gross more in the USA and their expanding pattern for The Motorcycle Diaries is, well, dumb.

The Motorcycle Diaries oscar chance for best picture is all but gone now. It simply hasn't made enough noise, to no fault of its own, in the box office for a foreign language film to stick in people's mind for long. Now the hope is down to The Sea Inside and A Very Long Engagement.

The Sea Inside should get it. It's the material oscars are made from. A human battle for dignity. It also was a huge hit at home, in Spain. Furthermore, it stars the already oscar-nominated Javier Bardem who is likely to get a nom this year as well.

Well, Birth is the only other New Line movie in release.

Sideways appears to be expanding in a pattern similar to huckabees.
Is Sideways going wide next week?

What about The Polar Express sneaks? I can't recall any WB movies in release at the moment.

Any theatre that still has Cellular will be getting the sneak and yes Birth will also be splitting it as well, those are the only theatres to my knowledge that will have the sneak.

Its not WB but somehow Dreamworks has a deal going with them and the sneaks (at least in ATL ) are being split with Surviving Xmas

Good expansion for Ray. Should be able to keep its drop under 35%. I see it getting up to $90 million with the oscar buzz for Foxx, but still no $100 million.

I agree, Focus' energy will concentrate on Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind now.

Awesome for The Incredibles! Seed of Chucky is very low. Focus once again is hurting their own movies with these bad theater counts. The Polar Express should do about 3,500. Pretty good for Alfie, though I doubt that will be big, anyways.

Fucking hell!!!!!! :D :D :D That is brilliant, killed my "3,650 tops" prediction straight away!!!!!

This is easily gonna make more than my prediction of $73 Million, does anybody know if its alright to change my prediction in the 'Apprentice' and 'Intl vs Dom'?

Nice drop for The Grudge. Nice increases for Ray and Saw. Bad drops for pretty much everything else.
