Actual numbers for Aftershock:
Midnight - 3m yuan (not a record) Thursday including midnight - 36.2m yuan (new opening day record, surpassing Transformers 2's 33.71m and Avatar's 33.03m) Saturday - 52.5m yuan (didn't break Avatar's single day record)
4-day total - 180m yuan ($26.6m)

Re: China Box Office (record-breaking start of Aftershock)
Based on what you told me about multipliers being slightly weaker than your average multiplier in the States, is a final gross of 450-500m Yuan or $65-75m reasonable?

Re: China Box Office (record-breaking start of Aftershock)
Since it's a Thursday opening (instead of Tue or Wed), in the summer, and with IMAX and good WOM, I think the multiplier could be better. 550m yuan ($80m+) is quite attainable.

Do you happen to know the current top 5/10 films of 2010?

Re: China Box Office (record-breaking start of Aftershock)
BEIJING, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) -- A film telling the story of an earthquake that devastated a Chinese city more than three decades ago has raked in 400 million yuan (58.6 million U.S. dollars) in the Chinese mainland as of Sunday, the film's distributors announced Monday. A statement from Huayi Brothers Media Corporation said more than 10 million tickets had been sold since the July 22 premiere. On the release day, "Aftershock" took in a record 36.2 million yuan -- the highest ever box office for a mainland movie on its opening day. Prior to the release, director Feng Xiaogang repeatedly stated that the film's final box office would reach 500 million yuan, a mark no Chinese movie ever achieved. The film's budget was some 150 million yuan (22 million U.S. dollars), according to officials. At the popular Chinese art website douban.com, 43,103 users have given the film a respectable rating of 7.5 out of 10, with 21.5 percent rating it full stars. http://news.xinhuanet.com/english2010/e ... 426650.htm

I think with the lack of competition, Aftershock could end up hitting $120m.

I guess expendables will do well in china with jet li plus vintage action stars? How about airbender? will it bomb.
Do you think inception's release bump by couple of weeks might help it make few more yuan?

Do you think inception's release bump by couple of weeks might help it make few more yuan? It should definitely help. One article at mtime.com claimed Inception should get 100m yuan total for sure and have a shot at 200m yuan. I'm not that optimistic. Similar to Toy Story 3, 100m yuan should be considered a great achievement already.
