Mark, What are the expectations for Pirates? |

Post subject: | Re: Germany Box-Office Thread |
Expectations are pretty subdued as the weather forecast for the weekend is VERY bad for theaters. In an hour I can tell you the average prediction on my site (forecast deadline is midnight German time)... |

mark66 wrote: Average predictions slightly better than GOTG2... (my own prediction is 23 % below GOTG2) below Guardians would be horrible. So its looking at huge drop in admissions. Not even 3 million admissions is happening? |

Were the tickets for On Stranger Tides inflated for some reason? It's not like there was twenty years between the third and fourth. |

And it wasn't for At World's End? |

Post subject: | Re: Germany Box-Office Thread |
At World's end opened in 2007 before 3D era. We only had few CGI flicks release in 3d at that time(especially Disney). I remember Journey to the center of the earth releasing in 3D in 2008. Avatar was the 1st blockbuster 3D release in late 2009. That changed the game for couple of years. Then its all downhill. |

The weekend Top 20: http://www.insidekino.com/DTop10/17/DTop17MAI25.htm With regular weather POTC5 probably would have opened 50 % higher |

Post subject: | Re: Germany Box-Office Thread |
POTC5 drops just 18 % in its 2nd weekend while BAYWATCH delivers the 6th biggest opening of the year with around 445,000 admissions (i.p.)... Oh, and GOTG2 needs another 0.1m admissions to become the biggest movie of the Marvel Cinematic Universe... |

Hasselhoff is big in Germany, right? So I am not surprised by that opening. |

Post subject: | Re: Germany Box-Office Thread |
Good for POTC5. Yeah Hasselholf's name surely helped that opening for Baywatch. |
