Re: The Fantastic Four: First Steps Predictions
I still see this doing well even if Cap 4 and Thunderbolts bomb since it’s much more broadly appealing, imo.
Though I actually see Thunderbolts doing solid after the latest good trailer if it’s a decent movie. Could see like 85/240m if everything went right for that one.

Re: The Fantastic Four: First Steps Predictions
Sorry, did you just say Thunderbolts* can open to $85 million and close with $240m?
To me it won't come close to those numbers. Those numbers are more likely for Blacktain America and Fantastic Bore.

To me it won't come close to those numbers. Those numbers are more likely for Blacktain America and Fantastic Bore. If it got good reviews that’s the high end. If it gets meh reviews probably around 55-60m opening and drops like a rock. It does have the summer kickoff slot so that helps it.

Re: The Fantastic Four: First Steps Predictions
No way thunderbomb is opening that high. Its releasing 9 weeks after Cap 4 and has not a single character that GA would care. Trailer looks like a wannabe Suicide squad movie without any interesting character. OW closer to Marvels I am thinking. Disney has stopped doing early reviews/reactions and so its tough for this movie to pull in a Shang Chi. That looked like 50s opener until early strong reviews propelled it to a big OW and leggy run in an empty market place. That had a more interesting hook than Thunderbolts for sure.

Re: The Fantastic Four: First Steps Predictions
Half those numbers is more like it. But even then $40m even feels too generous for it, lol. Maybe it does, like, $35m opening.

Re: The Fantastic Four: First Steps Predictions
Brave New World and Thunderbolts should have been one movie. Splitting them in two is some peak hubris by Marvel. Bucky and Yelena would be have been so welcome as main characters in this movie over the "forgotten cap who is mind controlled" and "she used to be a widow" random girl agent.

Re: The Fantastic Four: First Steps Predictions
This and Superman both being massive would be weird when all other signs were superhero was declining. Deadpool was the 3rd in a very popular trilogy and unique genre wise, there are just two straight forward superhero franchise starters.

Re: The Fantastic Four: First Steps Predictions
Stronger start than Cap 4 and Bolts. But weaker than big MCU movies including all sequels. Still a great start this far from release. 100m OW should happen.

Re: The Fantastic Four: First Steps Predictions
Good to hear.
Hopefully it can have a low $100s OW to a $300-$335m run if its good. It is the last of the big tentpole summer pics which should help its legs.

Re: The Fantastic Four: First Steps Predictions
I am seeing around 23m previews and 125m OW and low 300s finish even with above average reception.
