Nominations are out next week. One must remember, that unlike normal award shows the grammy's have a secret panel of voters that decide their five favorites from the top 20 everyone else voted for. They have been desperately trying to stack the deck in a hip-hop album's favor, mostly Kendrick Lamar, but so far it hasn't taken. Bruno Mars, Adele and Taylor dominate no matter what. Taylor is back this year, but I'm wondering if they snub her like Sheeran last year. Because she would probably win again and I doubt they want to face the backlash from giving Taylor her third album of the year award.

So my predictions:

Invasion Of Privacy - Cardi B. This should be considered the favorite, though it will not win.

Everything Is Love - The Carters. Was rejected by mainstream hip-hop fans, but I think this mublerap for dads record will play big with the voters. Plus it has Beyonce rapping. 50% chance of winning.

Cry Pretty - Carrie Underwood. This is a safe replacement for Taylor that will please the country/pop audiences. 25% chance at winning. Kacey Musgraves is another option for this spot, but I think they will pick the bigger name.

Daytona - Pusha T. This is more of a long shot, but it was a big deal at the time and it may also serve as a lowkey legacy win for both he and Kanye who produced it. Travis Scott or Drake could also take this spot, though I think the grammys will actually feel better about using the smaller artist here since hip-hop is already well represented. 25% chance at winning.

God's Favorite Customer - Father John Misty. Even longer shot, and I don't even care for the artist, but the people that like FJM really like FJM. All it takes is one of them on the secret panel. And they need something resembling rock music in there for the older viewers.


And I will predict Nice For What will win record of the year.
And Cardi B for Best New Artist obviously

I just read that there will now be eight nominees instead of five. Will be hard to deny Taylor now.

So even though I only got two right, I feel like my predictions were pretty solid. I was just wrong about them favoring established artists over newcomers.

And I should have known to go I Like It for Record of the year. It’s an easy feel good moment to end the show in case Cardi loses Album.

Fell asleep before it started. Woke up for the last 90 or so.

Loved the JLO extravaganza.
Duo Lipa set was excellent.
Might checkout HER.
Didn't care much for either of the winners of the final awards.

Watched the opening monologue on YT and that was nice.
Watched the Dolly Parton set and that was cool too.

Kacey's album has its moments, but I listened to her last country album Pageant Material before this and it feel more authentic somehow, even though the songwriting is better on Golden Hour. There's something unnatural in the transition to the latter's more mass appealing style, much like there's something unnatural about her face for someone I feel like I should be finding really hot

Is this the music equivalent to the Oscars? or is it more like the Globes?

I guess the Brit Awards is the BAFTA Awards equivalent, but not sure about the rest.

It's the music equivalent to the Oscars, but their choices are shit 90% of the time and cow more to popular opinion, but they get away with it cause people watch for the live performances during the show. They would give Best Picture to Black Panther or Bohemian Rhapsody if they were in charge of the Oscars
