Zwackerm made me do it. I was just gonna post it in his thread, but the project ended up being more fulfilling and challenging than I envisioned. So it gets to be the official FF3.

To make things easier for myself I set a few parameters:

1) Nothing released in the last year and a half.

2) Pop music changed and lost most rock affiliation in the late 90s and beyond. So that was my cut off for any borderline pop/rock artists. Fall Out Boy, Panic! at the Disco, Florence and the Machine, All-American Rejects, Third Eye Blind and Paramore were all discluded but may have had a song place otherwise.

3) Even with that said, if a song leaned towards a genre other than pop I probably cut it, with a few exceptions where the song was clearly the best from an uncuttable artist. There will be some good examples early on and maybe a few surprises later. This is also why all but one of the pop songs in the all time list will be absent.

4) I made a 3 song limit, though this was only an issue with one artist.

5) Because it is the FF3, I will give 3 close calls in the next post.

Will start tonight and finish in 5 days hopefully.

Both Rather Be and Something In The Way You Move are both instant mood improvers by incredible singers.

I won't sit here and pretend like Ashlee is a better singer than Jessica, or even good at all. But something about her growling over a ripoff of "Riot Radio" has always worked for me. And that is why she is here and Big Sis is not.

Mr. Blue Sky is my first borderline song. I wouldn't consider Electric Light Orchestra a pop band by any means, but pop was different back then. And then making it onto Starlord's playlist in Guardians 2 cemented it as a pop song in my mind.

I almost left We Found Love off, but then I heard it at work today and saw reason. Aerosmith sure wish I had started the list a day earlier though.

41. I Blame Myself by Sky Ferreira

I was initially against Fatboy Slim and his hippie dancing video whilst it was in the midst of a heated VMA battle with "Freak On A Leash" by Korn. They both ended up losing and I ended up really loving this song.

FutureSex era is obviously peak Timberlake and LoveStoned was the best to come out of it. Check out the Justice remix as well.

Siri calls this song "El Eight See Emm Emm Are" and I suppose Lily Allen never considered what future AIs would think of her spelling. She also reflects poorly on the Sheezus era, saying she wasn't in total creative control. While I want her to be happy, she did produce three of her best songs here, including my favorite. And she told her then-rival popstars to "bow down bitch" on the title track. So its an overall plus in my book.

It was tough to pick between Sparks and Come Clean for the Duffster. Sparks is just more fun and more likly to make me move. CC would win a video contest though, as I cannot vouch for Duff's dancing.

Sky Ferreira was already having a tough time with fame and maybe that explains why she still hasn't released the follow up to this album.

I have hardly heard of any of these. Were these popular or are they just by pop artists?

I'd say only 5 of the 10 were legit hits. Though it does beg the question- can something be pop if it isn't popular? I say yes. And I'd guess that the full list is only 1/3 unpopular pop.

Also must point out that this is the first FF I have done on a laptop instead of my phone. It is much smoother lol. I can just copy/paste youtube links instead of having to quote another post to get the right formula!

40-36 coming up soon.
