My list is heavily recency biased. I have listened to a LOT of old stuff, my parents played nothing but classic rock for most of my life. I just don't connect with it in general as much as with stuff from my own lifetime. And there are probably songs I like that I've forgotten. Here are some honorable mentions. Lady Gaga feat. I... I might enjoy this list. Out of your honourable mentions I very much enjoy "Telephone", "All of Me" and "Into You". I considered the latter two for my own list, but they didn't quite make it. "Into You" is my favourite Ariana song, and pretty much any John Legend song's going to be to my liking. Nothing wrong with picking recent songs either. None of the songs on my list so far have been older than I am. It's just what I grew up with. That most of yours would be from the 2000's makes sense to me. |

I don't personally mind One Direction, they've got a couple of good pop songs ("Story of My Life" and "What Makes You Beautiful" for me) and don't fare badly at all when compared to most of the big 90s wave of boy/girl groups. The boys seem to be doing better getting into their own groove post-One Direction though. I'm curious to see Zwackerm's list. "Since U Been Gone" and "Crazy In Love" are both damn fine pop songs, so there's hope. |
