Post subject:  Algren Top 50 - MOBO Edition
I feel like I need to make a separate Top 50 list of music of black origin. I included one in my overall list (don't count remixed versions of Nina Simone and Michael Jackson songs, regardless of the ethnicity of the DJ who remixed them). Whether the songs on this list were just not good enough or that I completely forgot them or just forgot how good they were, it matters not. That list is that list, and it is final. This list is now here and I love most of the songs on this list just as much (perhaps a few should have been included). These songs are just not really my go-to playlist, but they are no less great.

I tried to include songs that were either made by a black person and/or are clearly music of black origin. Thus, I did not include any Michael Jackson as most of my favourites of his are pop-rock, dance-pop etc. and I do not consider that to be black music, whether or not you think that it all originated from blacks in the first place anyway. There are songs sung by white people on this list but they were either originally written for black artists or are clearly of black musical origin (such as reggae).

The truth is more like ... "Forgetful Moron!". I forgot so many great black songs in my Top 50 that I felt I wanted to do them justice with a new list. And music is very much like that with me. I go through stages of listening to trance and/or rock for weeks, then Hip Hop and R&B for a few weeks. When I made the Top 50 I was in a trance/rock phase. That's my go-to music.

I thought about doing five songs or ten songs to begin with, but I didn't want to appear to hog yet another list thread away from first-timers like CowboyFromHell or you, so I thought it best to get through it as quick as possible.

Okay, I'm not sure what part of Youtube you're getting these from, but Otis Redding's song is legit the only video available to me. :funny:

I am using Topic channels. I think they are for US-only. Sorry about that. If I had just posted five songs, I would edit all with universal videos, but I'm not going through twenty songs to change them all. :funny:
