Maybe I'm too used to dealing with Americans, but you keep surprising me by knowing/liking songs I'm pretty sure were mostly just European successes. You'll definitely be able to make informed comments when ripping into my choices. :funny:

Well, I am European.

I don't think of Algren as American, I'm just used to dealing with Americans on the interwebs so when someone's very clearly not, it stands out to me. I keep forgetting stuffp is Dutch as well.

2. "Pure Shores" by All Saints

I already loved this song through "The Beach", and then when I slow danced at it with the prettiest girl in class at a high school party it could never fail me again.

Approve. Absolute classic of my youth. I must have listened to this hundreds of times. I bought the CD single. Beautiful song. Should've included it on my list.

Excellent choice, I love All Saints. I was huge on the Spice Girls back in the day (shhhh) but All Saints had the better material. It's probably either them or pre-fuckup Sugababes for my favourite British girl group.

Apart from the Sugababes, I agree 100%. And I'm not ashamed of ever liking The Spice Girls. "Mama" and "2 Become 1" are great songs.

1. "Angels" by Robbie Williams

This has been my no. 1 since ever.
The best singer of my generation, his music I've played the most through my life so far.

The first half of your list was hit or miss to me, but the second half has several songs I really enjoy. Pretty good variety.

Best list so far. That #1 is just ... were we separated at birth?!? :D

Love me some Robbie Williams, so good #1 pick. Angels isn't my personal favourite of his, but it's still a classic pop tune.

I'm also amused that a list that started with System of a Down ended with Robbie Williams.

What's your favourite? Mine is "Feel" and "Old Before I Die". But many, many of his are just brilliant.

Really great song and I'm glad it's #2. Though it owes its existence a lot to Madonna and how she lifted Orbit's profile in pop landscape back then with their work on 1998' ROL and 2000's Music. Both Pure Shores and Black Coffee have starting DNA in those two albums (as do the other two songs on the album that Orbit had a hand in producing). Luckily Orbit was big back then otherwise I'm not sure this magic collaboration would happen. Shaznay writes really good lyrics and she really delivered with Pure Shores. Can't ask much more from a pop song.

EDIT: Angels are eh. Pop schmaltz.

I can't get on board with the #2, but Angels is a great song, solid pick

Hey! Sorry for not commenting but I had been following along. "Angels" is a good pick, though as an American I'm more familar with the bland Jessica Simpson version. Good thing you didn't pick that.

Chop Suey is the best of your first ten. Bleeding Love is still pretty good too. And I love the random 80s classics. Nicki and BEP? Mehhh but its still a solid ten. :P
