I like The Cure too, not great, but decent...I've heard from other people (my wife) that it's quite a weak song though.

Despacito is not my style, but I've heard other people (my wife) being into it as well.

Lorde's Melodrama era does not seem to have much commercial traction so far, but I still adore "Green Light" and "Liability." They get better and better the more I hear them. I hope she tours outside festivals soon.

Yes. Both of their new songs are good. They did repeat the same formula soundwise as in their debut album, but I'm OK with that considering follow-up's are never easy and it's OK to play it safe sometimes.

It is decent. Doesn't sound like Oasis or Liam Gallagher, though. Sounds quite pop-ish like early Robbie Williams. It's pretty good, and I could see it playing over the opening credits of a British rom-com.

British alternative-dance-pop veterans Saint Etienne have returned with another predictably gorgeous and rewarding album. They are incredibly consistent.

If we're talking new KP singles then Chained to the Rhythm is pure trash. I actually dig Bon Apettit sonically, but her vocals are really lame and don't work for me.

Swish Swish is such a immature move on her part. OK girl, you're jealous Taylor turned beef with you into a hugely successful single (and a pretty good pop song) but having a followup years later when everyone has moved on and supposedly she did too and doesn't want to talk about it (except she does and obviously bothers her to this day) is sooooo lame. And Swish Swish is a bad song too. So Katy Perry remained shit just as she has always been. One of the worst popular musicians recently quality wise.

Not sure how much of a foothold they will achieve in the ever-crowded realm of British indie rock (with the spectrum ranging from, say, Arctic Monkeys and Kasabian to Palma Violets and Viva Brother), but the Amazons are a catchy, charismatic young band.



I am also enjoying the groovy, shambolic new singles by Black Grape, the Happy Mondays' occasionally active sibling band. Here is one of 'em:
