The return of Mike Skinner's British hip-hop project the Streets is a nice year-end treat: And on a completely different note: Tom Chaplin, honey-voiced lead vocalist of Keane, has released a gorgeous and sentimental holiday album, blending originals and covers (Pretenders' "2000 Miles," Joni Mitchell's "River"). I am a long-time Keane fan/defender, and I believe Chaplin is a gifted, consistent purveyor of tasteful soft rock and balladry:  |

That Lovato song sounds like any song in a Fast and Furious movie as it opens on a beach in somewhere like Rio. It is extremely jolly, which is refreshing. Then the English starts and it loses something. C+ Man, I thought The Streets was over. It is so 2004. His voice, I hate it. "Midnight Mass" is a lovely song indeed. |

Cardi sounds more like a normal rapper on some features like "Finesse" with Bruno Mars and "La Modelo" with Ozuna. It would be nice if she left mumble rap behind |

“The Middle” is so annoyingly catchy. Nice that Maren Morris has a crossover hit though. |

Though when The Middle came on at the gym yesterday, I totally thought it was Camila Cabello. I think she and Maren have similar voices. Or maybe I'm crazy. |

Really? Camila sounds like mumblepop to me. Havana is a fine song, but I wouldn’t be at all surprised if the words “I got broads in Atlanta” were in it. A Perfect Circle are back with new music after a 15 year hiatus (14 if you count the remix album). I don’t love the new song though. Sounds pretty basic outside of Keenan’s vocals. |

That Shame song is crap. Kids doing the whole angry Indie rock that Oasis did 30 years ago. Vance Joy, meh. This type of music is made thousands of times each year. "Magazine" is good. Not the best Editors, but listenable at least. "Major System Error" is actually pretty good. "Curious" is crap, and again is the sort of song that is produced a million times a year. "Everyday's the Weekend", mediocre. L Devine ...lol, doped up modern day Britney skank? "Like You Like That" is a typical summer pop tune. |
