Nick Cave is a force of nature live. He gets so into it, almost registering as this insane, gyrating preacher, lol. "Stagger Lee" from Murder Ballads translates to the stage in an incredibly visceral way.

The artists/bands I want to see most:

Blur
Bryan Ferry
Fiona Apple
Neil Young
Jarvis Cocker in any capacity (solo, Pulp)
The Kills
Morrissey
Peter Doherty in any capacity (solo, the Libertines, Babyshambles)
Ray Davies (or a reformed Kinks)
Van Morrison

I would only ever see a few acts:

Paul van Dyk
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Muse

I did think about seeing Liam Gallagher, but I do not want him to be my first concert ever.

I guess I was never REALLY considering it. In an ideal world, perhaps, but it's a hassle going to Hong Kong just for that.

Queens and Royal Blood sold out in an hour here. >< I really wasn't expecting that. I'll probably still pay $100 as I haven't seen Queens since 2005 when they were opening for Nine Inch Nails.

Paid to see My Morning Jacket last week and oh my they lived up to the hype. Will give it an A+ on my next update. Great setlist and they jam aswell,if not better, than anyone I've ever seen.

I've only seen a relatively short set by My Morning Jacket—they played before Wilco and Bob Dylan—but I was impressed.

Was Gary Clark Jr. the opener at the show you saw, Flava'd?

I won't even try to make a list of acts I would like to see live. It's probably more than the number of concerts I've been too. Also I updated my list with some more Croatian artists (3 concerts of Josipa Lisac and one of The Bambi Molesters).

They actually managed to make a name of themselves worldwide actually. They're a surf rock band, not as dark as they sound.

Unfortunately not David. The Record Company were really good though.

Checked Metallica off the bucket list earlier this month - I was worried they were going to be a bit washed up but they turned out to be great.

Depeche Mode in September - plenty of time to explore their work again.

Queens/Royal Blood will be an incredible show.

The Killers
(warm-up acts: Jonathon, Vang Gogh & Teachers)
@EXIT Festival, Petrovaradinska tvrđava, Novi Sad (Serbia)

I can honestly say this was the best concert I've ever been to. Sure, The Killers are a band I grew up with and I personally think they have a flawless discography so far (and if The Man is any indication, their latest album will deliver for sure) but they even exceeded my highest expectations.

From the moment they stepped on the stage with the slow synth opening of The Man followed by a huge confetti explosion on the first big beat of the song they didn't stop being a first rate rock act and you could tell that Vegas showmanship is in their blood. Brandon is The Man, a great frontman and while I did watch their Live from the Royal Albert Hall a couple of times and watched him singing live on YT, hearing him in person was a revelation. His voice is sooooo fucking powerful. Damn. Everybody I know has heard me say at least once that Brandon was my man-crush back in high school (I had him as my avatar for a long time here too), but he might be my man-crush now forever :D.

The set list was a pure fan fantasy (if they played Tranquilize I'd probably die right there and then), they just went from one hit to the other with some fan favorite songs popping here and there. Even Shadowplay (which I find to be a rather anemic cover in its studio version) sounded huge. While Battle Born was an album you had to take a while to get into, Runaways (as expected) was immense live, but The Way It Was was a truly surprising beast of a song. I was kind of wishing they played at least a couple of more songs from Battle Born.

I don't think from now on I will miss any concert they might have nearby.

1. Run The Jewels - A
2. Charlie Wilson - C
3. Maroon 5 - C-
4. Eric Church - B+
5. Ariana Grande - B
6. Bon Jovi - C+
7. Chris Brown - B-
8. Red Hot Chili Peppers - A
9. Halls & Oates w/ Tears For Fears - C+
10. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers w/ Joe Walsh - A
11. My Morning Jacket - A+
12. New Kids On The Block w/ Boyz 2 Men - C-
13. Incubus w/ Jimmy Eat World - A
14. Earth, Wind and Fire w/ Chic - B

I'm having a great summer for concerts with four As and Coldplay still to come. I've already talked about how great My Morning Jacket was, a band that elevates their own songs and then jams for ten minutes after. Tom Petty and Incubus played all the hits and you can't ask for anymore than that. Well maybe a good opener and whaddayaknow they both had those too! I wouldn't have considered myself an EWF fan going in, but it was one of those shows where I was constantly thinking "oh that's who sings that." They had really high energy too.

Ryan Adams
(warm-up act: Karen Elson)
@Tvornica Kulture, Zagreb (Croatia)

Well, it was a good show, but a bit weird set-list and I wasn't a fan of that 25 minutes psychedelic-rock mash-up of 3 or 4 songs. It definitely tired the audience (or at least more casual one which was apparently in larger numbers).

Also his rant about a guy who used flash (and I'm actually surprised there was only one or two because audience isn't really that considerate here in Croatia) seemed a bit douchebaggy. You don't go saying to someone that you're gonna take that phone, shove it up their ass and take a picture of their colon. I mean that stuff is bound to happen no matter how many warnings they put. By this point he should've gotten used to it or make arrangements with the security that people who use flash get kicked out immediately. It felt very awkward both for the guy and for Ryan.

EDIT: Oh Karen Elson was boring as fuck. She completely lacked enthusiasm for being on stage. No contact with the audience, no joy of performance. I hope it was just a bad day for her.

I guess he thought it didn't matter since he was only in Croatia. Stars do seem to have an attitude when visiting non-USA/UK/Australia type countries, as if they can act as they like because nobody will find out anyway.

I had to look him up on Wikipedia. lol

I remember hearing a story many years ago about how Ryan Adams walked off stage after someone requested a Bryan Adams song.

GusGus %
@Tvrđava Sv. Mihovila, Šibenik (Croatia)

It was an OK show, but I still don't get why this type of music needs live performances. There wouldn't be much difference if they just put the CD on and hit play (especially considering a few tracks had additional prerecorded vocals the lead singer had a duet with). If you're gonna do this type of music live then come with a light show, great video wall or some kind of a concept performance.

But I don't listen to GusGus (first time hearing them I think) and I wasn't bored so I guess they did something right. Maybe this was the shit for people that listen to then, I don't know. Crowd seemed to be really into it and they were bopping, but most of the time they were just dancing by transferring weight from one leg to the other waiting for some big moment to happen so they could go crazy. It just seems it never happened.

Adams' salty game is reaching Liam Gallagher levels. I LOVE the Strokes, but, "Julian Casablancas: who got you strung out on lasagna tho?" is a bit of a gem. And it was unfair of the Strokes to vilify him in the press. Albert Hammond Jr. should own his heroin addiction and its effect on his career during those prime Is This It/Room on Fire years. He was an adult.

And he is a brilliant musician and songwriter.
