How many concerts have you seen in 2017?
1. Run The Jewels - A
As with most artists, I don't think they played long enough at 1:15. However what we go was fantastic and the openers (Gaslamp Killer, Gangsta Boo, Cuz) were surprisingly good too.

Re: How many concerts have you seen in 2017?
I have a few lined up now in the summer: Ryan Adams with Jenny Lewis; Laura Marling; Belle and Sebastian with Spoon and Andrew Bird; and a one-day radio-station festival headlined by Kings of Leon, Weezer, and Jimmy Eat World.

Re: How many concerts have you seen in 2017?
Don't you go to a concert as opposed to seeing a concert? Sounds weird to me. I see a band or a performer, and go to a concert...

Re: How many concerts have you seen in 2017?
Well I suppose that its just for me then, since I go to work and sometimes see concerts while I'm there. I'll be at 5 by the end of the month, though they aren't the best of shows.
I really wanna see Metallica but I missed out on the Columbus tickets. Incubus with Jimmy Eat World sounds really good too!

Belle are headlining over Spoon? Or is that your preferred artist?

Re: How many concerts have you seen in 2017?
When I was closer to D.C., I went to more shows. If I was still in college, I would always be hopping over to, say, the 9:30 Club: oh, the Whitney record is solid, nice young band, I'll go see them. But when it involves four hours of driving (two up, two down), particularly after a full day teaching, I become more selective.

I believe they are considered co-headliners, however.

1. Run The Jewels - A 2. Charlie Wilson - C 3. Maroon 5 - C- 4. Eric Church - B+ 5. Ariana Grande - B
Charlie Wilson is totally not my thing so I don't wanna grade it too harshly. Also not a big fan of Maroon, but they had really low energy. I think Adam was sick. Eric played for a ridiculous 3 hours and 35 minutee, but it was mostly good. And Ariana is always a solid performer.

Re: How many concerts have you seen in 2017?
I was super impressed by Ryan Adams live, whom I saw on Friday. It was my first time seeing him after being a fan for a couple years. It was a very full-bodied, heartfelt show, with lots of pleasant swerves in mood and style: from solo acoustic to direct-hit Springsteen- or Petty-style anthems to, a few times, jam-band experimentation. He seemed in high spirits and brought out Jenny Lewis to share vocals on "Come Pick Me Up." Then I saw Kings of Leon on Sunday, and I enjoyed them as I always do. A top-ten band for me. It was fun seeing them at the very front of the general-admission pit. This was one of those one-day festivals sponsored by a radio station, and they were preceded by Weezer and Jimmy Eat World. (I was late and missed a few other bands, including Catfish and the Bottlemen and Highly Suspect.) I had never seen Weezer or J.E.W. before, and I dug both. Safe, compact sets—nothing from Pinkerton, for instance—but it was pleasant to sing along to "Buddy Holly," "The Middle," "My Name Is Jonas," "Perfect Situation," "A Praise Chorus," "Say It Ain't So," etc. And we had to collectively tolerate "Feels Like Summer." Seeing Gorillaz in July and Mew in August. I saw the latter open for the Pixies several years ago. I have always wanted to see a headlining show by them.

Anybody going to see Blondie this summer? Their shows are selling out much faster than all the other retro acts on tour this year. (She's even doing a couple of dates in the UK with Phil Collins (!) and Mike & The Mechanics.)

1. Run The Jewels - A 2. Charlie Wilson - C 3. Maroon 5 - C- 4. Eric Church - B+ 5. Ariana Grande - B 6. Bon Jovi - C+ 7. Chris Brown - B- 8. Red Hot Chili Peppers - A 9. Halls & Oates / Tears For Fears - C+ Chili Peppers were much better than the first time I saw them. This is mostly thanks to a setlist that highlighted their entire career rather than just the most recent album. They even broke out "Aeroplane" , one of the best. Bon Jovi is the type of artist you think you like, but then realize its just the 3-4 fun pop songs and a bunch of snoozers. Chris Brown played 0 songs I liked (no "Run It" or "With You" or "Get Like Me") , but he and his openers, including Fabolous, had alot of energy and impressed me. I have tickets for My Morning Jacket and Incubus/Jimmy Eat World this summer. Whats really is that the schedule had worked out differently, I would have been expecting to see Soundgarden on Friday at Rock on the Range.

Com Truise is playing in Hong Kong on the 16th. Tickets are only $285 HKD. I'd like to go. I like Truise a lot, but I would especially like to go as he will be playing some of his music from Blade Runner 2049. But I don't want to go alone.

Just one gig in each of 2015 and 2016. But you're back on track this year. I am particularly envious of these: David wrote: 7. Editors with the Antlers, the Dig @ the 9:30 Club 21 February 2010

Liam Gallagher is playing in Shenzhen on 12th August. I'm not going to go, but I am surprised he is playing here. The last big name I can remember Shenzhen had was Linkin Park, like, 5 years ago. It's usually Shanghai and Hong Kong that get the big names.

Laura Marling is awesome. Her new album is pretty damn good.
Also you don't go to festivals or don't count them as concerts?

Never been to a Glastonbury- or Coachella-style festival. They don't hold any proper ones in the D.C. area. Maybe I'll try Firefly in Delaware within the next few years.

Re: How many concerts have you seen in 2017?
I've tried to compile a list like David, but while it was easy to do a list from 2014 - 2017 (as I started to keep tickets) it's a pretty spotty list from the very first concert in 2006 I actually remember wanting to go to up until 2014. Concerts marked with % are the ones I got tickets for free be it competition of just knowing people who know people.

It's kind of strange to hear that. There are a gazillion of festivals around here in Croatia. Just thought that there are even more in US.

Yeah, but if there weren't any festivals around here I doubt many current bands/performers would be coming here. Also The Horrors were slightly disappointing live. Morrisey sings as a motherfucker and you should definitely try to see him at least once (but if you ever go to one of his shows don't expect too many The Smiths songs) and MBV nailed it (even though I think their request at playing the highest possible volume and giving away free ear plugs to the audience was a bit of a BS). I envy you on Radiohead, Beck and Tame Impala. I don't get why Beck is so hyped to be a U2 warm up act nowadays. Personally i think his discography wipes the floor with U2's. I don't understand what happened to the new album also. It will never come out. I'm not a big fan of Queens (they might make good music, but Josh comes off as mini Trump in some of his stances so I'm annoyed by them) but I would love to see Royal Blood live (even if their second album is a bit underwhelming). Also I plan on seeing Nick Cave in October too. But that also slightly depends on my schedule. I'm like 70% sure I'm going. And yes I forgot that I've been like crazy obsessed to go to Grace Jones at the end of August, but she's playing in a town that's really badly connected to where I will be then. But a friend of mine said if I want to go he would buy me a ticket as a birthday present. So that makes it a little bit more of an option.
