Favorite songs of 2016
Settled on a top 15. I limited myself to one song per artist and decided not to list runners-up (because it would spiral into a too-large list): "22 (OVER S∞∞N)" by Bon Iver "Burn the Witch" by Radiohead "The Darkest Part of the Night" by Teenage Fanclub "Distant Sky" by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds "Easier Said" by Sunflower Bean "Every Time I See a River" by Van Morrison "Everything You've Come to Expect" by the Last Shadow Puppets "The Fur and the Feathers" by Suede "G O A T" by the Cult "Gemini Feed" by Banks "Go!" by M83 <- favorite song of 2016"I Don't Love Anyone (But You're Not Just Anyone)" by Peter Doherty "The Love Within" by Bloc Party "Robin Hood" by Jamie T "They Don't Own Me" by Richard Ashcroft

Re: Favorite songs of 2016
You may not enjoy a lot of them. Be forewarned. I do hope you dig "Gemini Feed" and "G O A T." Those are ones I would recommend specifically to you.

Re: Favorite songs of 2016
"Go!" by M83 is a good track. But it's not my favourite M83 track of the year. That honour probably goes to "Road Blaster", though "Do It, Try It" and "Laser Gun" are also strong contenders.
As for other favourite songs of the year, I have really hard time remembering what songs even came out. But looking at CowboyFromHell's list, songs from Red Hot Chili Peppers and Muse will definitely be there. I have Getaway and Drones (though that's a 2015 album), just haven't had the chance to listen to them since my laptop crashed (which is also why I find it difficult to check other 2016 songs). My favourite songs from Getaway are "Goodbye Angels" and "Dark Necessities" and my favourite songs from Drones are, well, it doesn't really matter since it is a 2015 album.
"Gemini Feed" by Banks is up my alley. I'd also be interested in a house remix. And sorry, but I didn't like "G O A T" at all. "The Love Within" is even better.
"Mixed Signals" and "Sensitive" by Robbie Williams are good songs, so I guess those would also feature in my top songs. Most of the songs from his new album are decent.
What other songs came out this year?

Re: Favorite songs of 2016
I am not sure what from this year would be up your alley. Hm. Foo Fighters drummer and occasional vocalist Taylor Hawkins released a solo EP. A song from it: You might dig CRX, a side project of Strokes guitarist Nick Valensi. They have a nice, energetic, guitar-driven pop sound: Though not a Queens of the Stone Age album proper, Iggy Pop's Post Pop Depression is "directed" by Josh Homme, who plays and frequently sings on every song, produces, etc. Every song also features fellow Queens member Dean Fertita: The Kills are, in my opinion, among the most reliable rockers active today: Suede (the London Suede in the U.S. for legal reasons), sexier and more grim '90s contemporaries of Blur and Oasis, reemerged reinvigorated this decade. A cut from their most recent album, which I love: For electronic music, you might consider Crystal Castles and Flume:

Re: Favorite songs of 2016
I went straight for the electronic choices. "Fleece" is fine. "Say It" is just pop music, but it is kind of relaxing, I guess.
As for the others; Suede reminds me of another band. "Like Kids" ain't bad, but just feels like standard indie pop rock. "Days of Why and How" is more like it. Nice song. Might check The Kills out.
I'll listen to the other later.

I would literally be embarrassed to post my favorite songs. I only listen to popular stuff.
