Wasn't the Carters' album hurt by inaccessibility to a degree? It started as a Tidal exclusive. Then it came to the other streaming services, but only for paying customers. None of the songs are featured on Spotify's "THIS IS JAY-Z" or "THIS IS BEYONCE" playlists.

Although it is perhaps interesting to consider a dynamic where gargantuan media attention for the couple's endeavors (the feverish coverage of surprise releases, etc., etc.) slightly outpaces John Q. Public's interest in listening to their new product.
Could be true. Don’t recall B having any hits off Lemonade either.

Apeshit debuted #13. I still think it’ll eventually catch on and dominate late summer.

Beyonce still has strong sales and streaming, but pop radio refuses to play her.

As long as Drake isn’t too strong, No Tears Left to Cry could hit number 1 when her album drops

LOLOLOLOL I can't think of a worse artist to have a majority of the top 10.

Streaming is really making the charts look very uninteresting. I don't think they should be ignored, because it's indicative of reaching an audience, but it should be weighed far less heavily than it is now. It's just... chart pollution.

Only singles released to radio should count. Then at least there only be 5 Drake songs on the chart. This every time a hip hop artist releases an album taking up the whole top 10 is ridiculous and we’ve seen it over and over again this year, with J. Cole, Cardi B, Post Malone, Kanye and now Drake.

In My Feelings is getting a boost from the In My Feelings challenge like how Black Beatles was boosted by the mannequin challenge.

God is a Woman's sales fell off too quickly and there was no airplay at all. Hopefully it can hit top 10 eventually, because it's dropping next week,

So how high does Sober get after all this madness?

Sounds like Zayn is danger of being finished. His new song isn't in the top 100 and apparently he has too much anxiety to tour and was dropped by his manager. Niall might pull the upset and become the most successful 1D

Sober isn’t streaming well, considering Lovato is a strong streaming artist it’s weird. But I think it can hit the top 40.

No brainer isn’t as good as I’m the One but hope it hits number 1. But Drake will be tops forever probably.

As far as I know, the Drake, Post Malone and Cardi B songs get play on pop radio. But yeah, these are not songs that are going to permeate the culture or be remembered years from now.

This might be the first time where I've not liked any song in the top 10. I normally like Maroon 5 well enough, but find "Girls Like You" to be a bit forgettable.

Most of it just feels so... same-y. I mean, I like some rap/RnB music just fine, but it's pretty much the entire top 10 here. Looking at the top radio songs and top digital sales, it really just once again shows how much streaming pollutes the Hot 100. Sure, it's a reflection of what's popular in America, but it's really forking skewed by streaming numbers.

It would be the same in the Dutch charts, because there's a (somewhat suspect >.>) surge in sales for Dutch hip-hop/rap artists and they're big on streaming too, but the metrics of the Dutch Top 40 keep them from dominating. I mean, it probably sways things too much in the direction of certain radio stations, but at least it keeps the chart from being completely shite. xD

The Post Malone songs are sort of so bad they’re good. But yeah the top 10 sucks.

Streaming any song you’d like at $10 a month has obviously empowered low income music lovers. But why is hip-hop the only genre that has benefited from this? You’d think at least one rock artist would have gotten one of those weeks with 5 of the top twenty songs. Hell even country doesn’t seem to benefit much since its had only 1 hit all summer.

2018 has like easily been the worst year in recent pop music yet. Like I thought 2017 was bad. It’s been downhill each year since 2013-14, which was the peak.
