10. More violins here on You’re Not Sorry, but the kind that indicate sorrow instead of fantasy adventure. This is another breakup song where the handsome Prince turned out to be just another jerk, basically the theme of the Fearless album. But this stands out above the rest because of the emotion poured into it, both in the lyrics she sings and the music she chooses to accompany it. 9. Delicate is the Taylor song most likely to put me in the mood for romanticisms. One can picture her sitting on your lap whispering the hook into your ears. That is what elevated above a cutesy song about meeting someone new. It probably should have switched places with This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things on the tracklist of Reputation, as it fits in with the later albums them of the New Taylor being relaxed by the start of something special. 8. Cruel Summer is the instant classic off her new album, I already can’t let it go, it’s hand prints on my soul. Not only is it impossibly infectious, but lyrically mature despite being pretty similar to many songs on her oldest albums. Why? Everyone expected this song to be about Kanye, even after she precluded it with a song called I Forgot That You Existed. Taylor has moved on from that petty feud, at least for now. We’ll see how Kanye responds to being ignored. 7. Blank Space has Taylor fully embracing all her personality aspects that have been heightened by media and fans/haters. It’s almost a satire, except that Taylor knows she actually is like this sometimes and is kinda like “well if you don’t like it then suck my big fat D”. The important thing is that she’s having fun with it, leading to one of her biggest pop hits in the catalog. 6. Enchanted is the inverse, or perhaps the prequel to Haunted. Her walk through the fantasy world is quite blissful here, much like the beginning of the movie that I’m sure this song is titled after. It’s weird that this song is about the Owl City, who kinda looks like George McFly, but maybe that is the appeal? If we were ranking Taylor songs by their instrumental versions, this would take a crack at #1. It is epic at six minutes, almost a Tool song. Was tough to leave any of these out of the top 5, but life is tough, even one as glorious as Taylors. Those final five will come later .. or maybe tomorrow. |

5. Style is definitely Taylor at her absolute coolest. If it were made into an 80s movie she’d be played by Molly Ringwald, wearing sunglasses and something that seemed fashionable back then. The album 1989 was all about capturing the sound of the year she was born, and none did it better than Style. 4. I know its not on her first album, or even the first single off her second album, but You Belong With Me plays like the Taylor Swift origin story to me. I guess Black Panther got a solo movie after he had already appeared in Civil War, so there is some precedent. 3. I love the drums on State of Grace so much, they make it come off as a Metric song, or from some similar female fronted alt-rock band. Then that guitar comes in and elevates my spirit even more. 2. Up until this moment I had always considered Sparks Fly to be my favorite Swift song, but I guess Lover prompted a change. Still, as the #2 song I obviously still love it a lot. Why? Well it has everything I love about Taylor in it. Strong, but adorable lyrics about falling in love and the risks that come along with it. And she matches it with an unforgettable musical composition. 1. It’s a huge twist, a Shamylonian one you could say, but Mine ascends all the way to the top spot. Why? Well I guess it has everything that I love about Sparks Fly, but in the post-Lover world Mine just has more forward momentum going on. Instead of falling in love with someone new, Mine is Taylor at what believes is the end of her love. Yet her man surprises her, and instead of letting it flame out like everyone has before, he locks it down, choosing the potential of long-term happiness over the burning rush of a new flame. Obviously this didn’t work out, she’s been with many others in the ten years since, but if you told a new Taylor fan that this was a new Tayor song they’d believe you, cause it fits right in with the Lover era. That being said, Sparks Fly could easily go back to #1 within a week lol. These two are that damn good and will always have to be inseparable. |

Stats! By album: 1989 - 9 Red - 9 Speak Now - 8 Lover - 8 Reputation - 8 Fearless - 6 Taylor Swift - 1 Fifty Shades Darker - 1 But, the order switches a bit when we use the passion ranking system (#1 is 50 points, #50 is 1 point) Speak Now: 50 + 49 + 45 + 37 + 26 + 25 + 14 + 8 = 254 1989: 46 + 44 + 34 + 30 + 27 + 21 + 19 + 12 + 5 = 238 Fearless: 47 + 41 + 38 + 33 + 31 + 23 =213 Red: 48 + 39 + 35 + 28 + 22 + 13 + 9 + 7 + 4 = 205 Lover: 43 + 32 + 29 + 24 + 20 + 17 + 11 + 3 = 179 Reputation: 42 + 40 + 36 + 18 + 16 + 10 + 6 + 2 = 170 Taylor Swift: 15 Fifty Shades Darker: 1 Not all surprised by the domination of the top two, but I am surprised that there's a big gap between Red/Fearless and Lover/Reputation. |

I'm not a big Taylor fan, but I'd agree with "Mine" being her best song. |

The only other current artist worthy of a top 50 list is Kanye (adding in his features and producing would make it very easy). That would have worked a couple years ago, but all his fans (Magnus, torri, etc...) have left the board. As is, I doubt anyone on here would care so it seems pointless. |

Maybe a a top .50 .5 Jus...Ill Unless you mean Pink Floyd. While they are more than worthy of a list, their songs are very long so they only had 5-10 on most of their good albums, The Wall being the one exception. |
