It's a frickin' Christmas song, but it's the best one ever and I love it. Been listening to it since I ever celebrated Christmas as a kid and there's so many good feelings to it. Couldn't have a list without it.

Kudos on including a Christmas song. Often neglected from lists. I think I probably prefer that Mariah Carey one, but this one is also good.

I'm not familiar with the original, but I loved this cover from Gary Jules instantly when it came out, its sound is both slow and full of impact. One of 2000's best.

Awesome choice. I also don't care for the original. This one is great.

Billy Joel is a music legend, and while I never really got into him at an early stage his songs are very easy on the ear. I discovered this song maybe only 9 years ago, but I've loved it since. The lyrics and the beat make me favor it over his other songs.

You really are a victim of catchy songs. Interesting video, but the song is not my cup of tea.

Aside from being aware of "Jessie's Girl" it was only until recently I got more into Rick Springfield and he's just such a cool dude. Other hits like "Affair of the Heart" and "State of the Heart" are great too, but "Human Touch" is his best song for me.
I was introduced by The Clash by a Swedish neighbor in my late teens, he was dumbfounded I didn't know who they were at first and I wasn't directly impressed when he put up "London Calling". I also very much appreciate "I Fought the Law" and "Should I Stay or Should I Go" by The Clash, but it's "London Calling" what introduced me to them and will remain a lifelong favorite without doubt.

Not aware of "The Human Touch" at all, or Rick Springfield (I will check out "Jessie's Girl" later to see if I know it - don't know it by name), but did you become aware of him through Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories? Anyway, the song is ok. It has that 80s feel, which already puts it ahead.

While exploring The Clash I got into the Ramones at the same time. So many great songs, some of which I also considered including in my list ("Blitzkrieg Pop", "I Wanna Be Sedated"), but finally decided to settle on this one as I prefer it because it has such a great hook "I don't want to be buried in a Pet Sematary, I don't want to live my life again".

Well I've known Jessie's Girl through one of those 80's hits recaps that you saw on tv sometimes. And maybe GTA had something to do with it to keep him linger in my head too, I'm not sure anymore when I exactly started listening to his albums, but he also had this great guest role in Californication (tv-show).
I listened to a lot of Nirvana in my mid-teens, all three of their studio albums are great, but it's their most iconic song that make me fondest of them too. I became fascinated by Kurt Cobain and his music through the documentary Kurt & Courtney, and at that time listened to Nirvana most when on road trips.
I wasn't ever into Boyzone, but I loved this Ronan solo single straight when it came out. It's pretty much just relating to "Life IS a Rollercoaster" and I find it so upbeat and fun to listen to.

"Pet Sematary" is average rock. "Smells Like Teen Spirit" is much better, but I'm just bored by Nirvana. And "Life Is a Rollercoaster" is a refreshing choice. I am pleasantly surprised to see Ronan Keating feature on your list. Not because I like the guy or his music, just because I am surprised anybody actually remembers him as a singer, solo or otherwise.

I just listened to your YouTube video of "Life Is a Rollercoaster" and I am slowly getting angrier and angrier. I hate it so much. Moronic pretty boys singing about life and how it's all happy and lovely, spreading their wisdom. Nah nah nah.

Mad World is a great song, so sad and creepy. Smells like Teen Spirit is of course a great rock song. I like Billy Joel a lot so it's nice to see him on the list and We Didn't Start the Fire is fun
30. "Kenny Rogers - Pharoahe Monch Dub Plate" by Wyclef Jean
I learned of this song through the Alias tv-show. The Kenny Rogers bit from "The Gambler" is just awesome and while I'm not particularly a fan of the rap parts, the beat in this Wyclef version make me prefer it over Kenny's original song.
This is apparently a well covered song which I didn't know before, but the Paul Young version is the definitive one for me. Love the tune and Young flows out the lyrics so smoothly, another 80's classic for me.

I knew this song's lyrics off by heart back when it came out and can still recite the lyrics. Nice pick stuffp.
