We back! Lets set the deadline day at the end of the month, February 28, for now.

Send me your votes in the following categories.

Best Picture (submit ten nominees here)
Best Director (submit five here and all other categories)
Best Actor
Best Actress
Best Supporting Actor
Best Supporting Actress
Best Acting Ensemble
Best Stunt Ensemble
Best Original Screenplay
Best Adapted Screenplay
Best Animated Feature
Best Documentary
Best Foreign Language Film

Best Original Score
Best Original Song
Best Makeup
Best Visual Effects
Best Art Direction

Breakthrough of the Year (before or behind the camera)

Best Needle-Drop AKA Use of a Non-Original Song

No new categories this year ... though I was tempted to add two more for best voice acting and best animal.

Rank your choices as I use a passion-based voting system for the nominations.

For example, if I had to rank our previous few best picture winners:

Oppenheimer - 5 points
Spider-Man: No Way Home - 4 points
Parasite - 3 points
Promising Young Woman - 2 points
Top Gun Maverick - 1 point

I am fairly certain we will not echo the Oscar’s for best picture here.

I think we would pick The substance if enough people watch it

Main contenders will probably be Dune, Substance and Wicked but I could be wrong. Certainly didn't expect All of Us Strangers to come in second place last year.

Everyone should watch Flow and Strange Darling too. They aren't on any streamers but are well worth a purchase. :yes: It was a really great year for indie films and not just a24 for once.

I long for the day that Scariest Horror and Funniest Comedy are changed to Best Horror and Best Comedy. I mean, I've seen plenty of horror films in 2024 but none were scary, so I guess I can't nominate anything in that category. :P Not all horror films are even meant to be scary.

Dr. Lecter used to do it that way but then slightly comedic dramas would win ever year, which I think defeats the point of the category. This is a place where the Ricky Stanickys of the world stand a chance which would never happen if it was just titled Best Comedy which in itself sounds very serious lol. Plus I think it adds a bit more fun at the end of the ballot and every one can fill it out very easily without needing to decipher what is or is not a comedy. But, as always, I accept everything and will not be rejecting ballots because "not funny enough!!" You can vote The Brutalist for that category if you want. :P

Maybe. I only have three right now, including my own. But then we'd have to do it on Monday. Simulcasting our nominations at the same time as oscars would be crazy ....
