Post subject:  Help my friend!

So my roommate has been interested in a girl for over 2 years now. She is 5 years younger, she is 17 and he is almost 22. They met about 3 1/2 years ago. He first told her he liked her about 2 years ago. She said she thought she liked him back but wasn’t sure. I guess he was 19 and she was 14 at the time. Within the last year and a half, they have begun to behave as boyfriend and girlfriend. However, they do not say they are dating and they do not consider themselves boyfriend and girlfriend. They spend days alone together, cuddle, dance together, are attached at the hip and do all the couple stuff. But she continues to say she is unsure she wants a relationship. They went on their first official date after 3 years of knowing each other last week, and apparently it went well. But she does not want to go on another date with him for like a month apparently because apparently she “needs time” and doesn’t know how she feels. But the girl has had three years to figure things out.
My roommate is deeply in love with her so it’s very hard to express my doubts about the future of their relationship to him when he asks me for advice. What do you think is up? Why can she not commit to a relationship after so long? Why does she seem to like him and not at the same time?

He's a pedophile. He told a 15 year old, when he was 20, that he loved her.

Lock him up in prison.

She was 14!!!!!!! when they met. What the fuck.

Also... SHE'S SEVENTEEN. Holy shit you both are creeps for thinking she owes him anything. Date someone that's legal.

That is way too young to be committed (and too young to be in a relationship with a 20-year old). Let her go and live her life. She owes him nothing.

He didn’t say he loved her, just that he was interested in her. That is super weird. It’s not as weird now.

The issue is just why she seems to be fine with acting like his girlfriend without actually being his girlfriend. Is she leading him on?

Also his brother is 23 and engaged to her 18 year old sister if that sheds any more light on the subject.

My roommate is also super awkward and can’t talk to girls his own age very well. He honestly might only like her Because she’s the only girl he has ever been close with who he wasn’t related to or dating one of his friends.

Rev's post is probably close to the truth. All signs lead to him just being a back-up. He can either be satisfied with that or find someone else (which in that case there's a good chance it will lead to the girl getting drawn more to him).

She already told him how she feels, it's just not the answer he was looking for:

He needs to move on. His brother is engaged to that girl's sister. No need to have his cloud hanging over the family dynamic. Move on and find someone else not related to his brother's future wife.
