And what did he do since? Fuck all. It's really no loss to the world. He got lucky with BitH. Quite easy to see in hindsight when a director is great and when a director is heavily reliant on a good crew. And Boyz in the Hood isn't even that good. Just average. |

I liked some of their biggest hits from the early and mid 80s, but wasn't really a follower. I remember Ocasek mostly for giving us ugly guys the notion that you could look horrible and still score a supermodel (Paulina), you only needed to be famous and rich too. Unfortunately, I only fill one of the three requirements.

When I first moved to Boston back in the 80s, I got a job at a record store while going to law school -- Ric Ocasek came in one day, looking at albums. I said hi and he nodded, and was friendly to everyone. Never got a chance to see him in concert, though. After the Cars, he became a successful record producer for No Doubt and Weezer and others |
