At my grocery store we have two types of checkout lines. One has a cashier and two belts. The cashier scans the item and places it on the second belt, and either a bagger or the customer bags the groceries. The other type of line is where the cashier scans each item and places it directly in a bag on a circular rack that is then spun around so they can put items in a different bag on the rack.

I like the first way because it's faster, but apparently a lot of people would rather have the cashier bag for them than get out faster.

The self service thing.

I prefer the Self Checkout line when I have a few items and don't want the cashier judging my purchases but when I have a cart full of items and a cashier is open then I sometimes use that option when I'd rather have them bag it up.

That's a good point, I do think it's a bit if a hassle if I'd have to checkout a bunch of items myself.

Given the choices I prefer a human do my bagging. Cans don’t end up on top of bread or cilantro.

I prefer the self serves above all.

You buy your groceries at Walmart?

Don't really care. Just care who has the shortest if no line. I don't like Self Checkout unless its at like a pharmacy or like one item. Receipt paper gets jammed way too often, and then your stuck there even longer.

I'll shit on zwackerm as much as the next person, but I don't think it's necessary to ridicule him on Walmart being a preferred grocery store. I live in a place where there are three major grocery chains (some smaller options but not within a convenient driving distance), and unfortunately, Walmart is one of them so it's hard to not shop there.

Self check-out

I don't have a problem with shopping at Walmart, some actually have some great selections. Never got good produce there though.
