I think the secret to happiness is letting go of desires and expectations and trusting that wherever you go and whatever you do in life, it will be ultimately what’s right.

What do you think the secret to happiness is?

More or less, I agree.

To be happier, people need to care less. What will happen will happen, and there is nothing any of us can do about it, so might as well be fine with it.

Oh no. That is the opposite of happiness. After watching porn and cumming, you feel low. Now if you had said sex...

Expectations is a big part, yes.

Desires are what they are. They're primal.

Having fun. The problem is the line gets blurry, what once was honest fun no longer is for some people but they feel they should keep doing it to avoid losing a part of themselves. Or they've convinced themselves something's fun when it's not or never was, they can just no longer find their honest emotional reactions underneath the pressure and guilt they put on themselves to live up to someone else's expectations. Or their ego has taken the wheel. One man golfs because he has fun, another golfs to prove he's better than the people's he's playing with, which may not have anything to do with fun, or maybe it did once but doesn't anymore

I'd love to read more from you.

Should have stopped at "having fun". That I can agree with. Stop analyzing too much. So many people I know - I think it is something particular to our age AND our generation - keep looking for "something more" in life or "finding themselves" or "finding meaning in what they do with their lives". Pfft. I just enjoy the ride.

Good way to look at it. Enjoy the ride cause there won’t be another one.

The lesson of Inside Out - If you want to be happy you have to be open to being sad. If you want to be loved you have to be open to being hated. If you want to be surprised in a positive way you have to be open to being disappointed. The opposite has to be option or else neither works.

Well, yeah, obviously...but isn't that quite an obvious platitude?

I think you misunderstand.

You still try for what you want, but if it doesn't work out, you just don't allow yourself to get discouraged. You just accept it is not the path your life will follow and you find some other path.

So how if whatever you do puts you in hell?

You were giving a more philosophical approach in the first post. Obviously your secret to "Happiness" involves more rules. It's certainly not "whatever" and "wherever" simplicity. I'm just saying come up with something better if your going to preach.

Mine is patience. And knowing Happiness is the farthest of dreams, and no one ever reaches. Happiness should honestly be a synonym for Heaven.

I had something vulgar but I won't say it. You are a child and still have not felt the world attack you. (KJ is like a pin prick)

If you're a guy? Lifting.

If you're a girl? Having kids first, then focusing on the career.
