Which is better?

l have had neither but definitely prefer cats. Dogs seem to either be dumb or scary

I like both. Prefer dogs because they're more fun to play with.

A 40 pound cat jumped on me when I was passed out on a friends couch once. I literally thought I was dying, that experience alone has made me distrust cats forever. And the whole" Ancient Egypt" used to worship these dumb animals. Cats are seriously the "what's to like" category.

Cats are cute. And if they don't run away they're cuddly. But that's about all they offer.

Cats

Don't need to be taken out for walks on bad weather days
Can be left alone at home for the weekend without a problem
Don't smell bad
Don't slobber all over you
Can control your minds and make you worship them
Cute and fuzzy

Cats.

Never had dogs and I'm sure they are warmer and friendlier than cats but I like the low maintenance aspects of cats.

Dogs all the way.

As for maintenance, I feel taking care of the cat litter box would be a hassle.

I have a dog myself who hardly sheds so that's a big plus and I enjoy the walks.

As his owner you don't notice it, but Nadou definitely sheds. His hairs are on everything in your apartment. Not a lot, sure, but he does.

And why are you mentioning litter boxes? Dogs use those too. Are you under the impression that to own a cat means they have a littler box for their entire life? Nah. They have one for when they are sick and when they are too young to go outside alone. Cats are much less maintenance than dogs, everybody knows that. Cats are fairly self-sufficient. Dogs need walks and being under constant supervision. There's a reason why dogs are not allowed to roam the streets but cats are.

To some extent, ok you have some valid points. Yeah nadou sheds, but compared to other dogs not much I think. And another point I thought of, dogs are frequently a chick magnet.

Yeah, but not much of a benefit for married men. ;)

I like both. Dogs are what I grew up with, and I prefer the level of affection and interaction you get from them. On the flip side, I like the independent nature of cats as well, and the lower amount of maintenance they need.

Having said that, I would want neither one of them. Even cats are more responsibility than I'd care for. And their hair does get everywhere. We used to own a dog who didn't shed much, but she'd get her tiny white hairs everywhere regardless. Those things could even persist through several laundry cycles for people who only visited our house maybe once a week. I swear, it could be weeks and my best friend would be amused to point out how he found one of those tiny little white hairs on his workout pants. I've also never failed to point out a coworker who owned a cat, based simply on the hair on their clothing.

Yeah, cats moult. We were lucky because had a tortoiseshell female and they moult less and if they do it's dark so nobody sees it.
