I watched a little of Maher the other day. I don't know. I dislike the guy's delivery. He waits for applause for a few seconds after each punchline with a smug face. As if his jokes are so intelligent and daring that he needs to soak up the reception to validate his thoughts. His jokes aren't clever at all. It's just the other side of spewing hate, except it's towards rich republicans, so it's deemed acceptable. That's the thing about modern society. It is so fickle. If you so much as even mention a black person's colour, you're a racist that should be off the air. But you can make scathing remarks about rich white people all you like - you're heralded a hero!

I find his self-satisfaction appealing and his comedy very on point. I completely recognize he is preaching to a choir of which I am a member, particularly when he skewers organized religion, but at times it feels nice to be catered to.

Doesn't he preach to the same choir as literally every other commentator?
