My thinking is Trump is simply too stupid to have nefarious Russian relations wrt WikiLeaks and to keep silent about it if they do exist.

I think scheming like that involves cunning that he lacks in spades.

What ever happens. He will not be kicked out of office and will do his four years unless he dies.

I dunno. All this has happened and he's not even 6 months in. Things are about to get real with Mueller in place.

So what offense are we actually looking to impeach him for? Has he actually been proven to have done anything that he should not have in relation to Russia?

Most likely obstruction of justice. That would be the easiest charge.

Quote:
The Constitution states that “The President, Vice President, and all civil Officers of the United States shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other High Crimes and Misdemeanors.”

But how those high crimes and misdemeanors are defined is largely up to House members themselves.

But really, it is more likely Trump will resign before he's impeached.

Is firing Comey obstruction of justice?

The investigation is still going on. If there's evidence, it will be found

It KIND of is. But then ASKING Comey to stop the Flynn investigation definitely IS obstruction.

It actually could very well happen in the House. As you only need a majority vote.

But Senate would need 2/3rds vote. And... that's not happening. We'd have to hope the investigation found something DAMNING (it might), or for him to resign.

They'll impeach if something damning is found and they think it ruins their reelection chances in 2018 by association.

GOP was dead in the water nationally until Trump. They have lost the popular 6 out of 7 times. Trump preventing Hillary was a god scend to them. They will give him every chance to succeed. If he fails, they are beyond fucked.

Trump has such an ego. His support is crumbling. He will take his hall and go home rather than admit he was picked last. Not sure how much longer this can continue

It's funny, the GOP could actually gain some moderates if they took a stand against Trump.

But man, they're a bunch of pussies.

The GOP had been gaining momentum under the Obama presidency sliding gaining more and more seats in the Senate and the House. So I won't say that Excel. Trump reached out to certain voters the GOP wasn't hitting, but never underestimate the loyalty of the GOP base

I'm referring to Bush 88, Reagan 84 and 80, and Nixon 68 and 72 opposed to Carter 76.

Sure. The Republican party of the 70s and 80s is MUCH different than the party as it is now, though. Hell, I might've been a Republican in the 80s.

In other news, just as Trump departs for the week long trip abroad he's sure to be miserable about:

A) Trump is the dumbest person of all time.
B) NYT and WaPo are savage, waiting until just after Air Force One took off to publish these.

I understand that Southern whites became Republican and black people became Democrat in the 1960's, but what else changed between the Reagan era and now?

Trump got in partly cause the GOP were pussies who were afraid to turn on him and lose his voters. I think Trump's presidency will be saved by the same thing.

It seems the bombshell reports/leaks are coming in faster and faster as the week goes on. We got the NYT reporting Trump telling Russian officials that he fired Comey because he was a nut job and that it'd release great pressure on the ongoing Russia investigation... what an idiotic thing to say if true.

And now sources are saying Russian officials boasted about their relationship with Flynn, hoping to influence the Trump administration as a result. Also, intelligence officials reportedly limited intel details to Flynn, National Security Adviser at the time, due to his Russia ties.

The number of connections is becoming overwhelming as more and more pieces of the puzzle are put together.
