The polls are closed. The votes are being counted. Turnout is expected to be as high as 70%. Are you Euroskeptic? or are you a Remainer?

Interesting that England is the only country with more "Leave" than "Remain" so far.

Isn't that expected? England is more nationalistic. Northern Ireland is close to Ireland, which is in the EU. Scotland is more socialistic. Just my thought. You might know more than I do.

Yes, but it's still interesting to see it unfold.

That's surprising. I couldn't give two fucks. I am surprised an American cares more about this than me.

Although my stocks are going to take a massive beating with Dow Futures down 500 right now and GBP being hugely devalued relative to the dollar, go Brexit.

85 percent leave probability according to ITV.

I hope it holds.

Lady just said this could be the end of great Britain. Hhmm. More fear mongering eh.

Scotland loved the EU apparently. It was 60/40 over there.

Some MP just said it wouldn't be till 2019 for a full exit. That's a long time from now. Assuming this holds.

Uk has 5th biggest economy apparently. Did not know that.
ITV and BBC call it for Leave !!

Oh well. People want to see what could happen when leave, and now they will find out. Think Scotland is definitely going to leave UK now with their own referendum. They failed last year, but that was mainly because of the EU, and now there is no reason not to. N. Ireland could leave too.

I think leaving is a terrible idea. But it's too late now.

Scotland have voted to REMAIN. 1.6m to REMAIN and 1m to LEAVE. Overall is REMAIN.

The referendum is not legally binding. MPs still would need to pass it through Parliament, and even then it depends what gets negotiated with the EU. We could technically vote LEAVE and still allow free immigrations for EU member countries (as it is now). So this vote isn't nearly as exciting as what will follow, and considering Cameron wants us to REMAIN in the EU, him and his team will obviously engineer the negotiations to support his policies.

Yes yes it's not binding but to go against the referendum would I'm sure have terrible consequences politically for those involved.

Well, I wasn't suggesting they overturned it (though that is an [extreme] option), just that they could delay and or otherwise promote policies in the following months and years that go against the LEAVE vote but because it's broken down, voters don't realise. Anyway, it will take two years minimum to finally LEAVE the EU if indeed that is the electorate's response tonight (which it appears to be).

I doubt Cameron will remain in Number 10 any longer. He will soon step down as the Remain vote has failed. The Leave side won't trust him to be their negotiator probably. Boris Johnson is likely to be his successor.

He already stepped down, apparently. Which will take effect in October.

LOL, what a fail. A sad day for UK and Europe, but Cameron has no one to blame but himself and his political gamble.

This is why you don't leave decisions like this to regular people who are dumb as fuck. As if some coal miner from Nurthumberland has any fucking idea what it means to leave the EU.

In 10-15 years time, the country will be called United Kingdom of England and Wales and the once great nation will be crippled once more. Way to go.

When was the last time it was crippled? Your country was unable to cripple it and there was no EU then.

Crippled as in: in a few years time, there will be no UK as it is now. Scotland is not going to stay.
