Post subject:  A question for the gays...

I was working today when my friend who is gay came through my line with flowers. I asked him who they were for and he said the boyfriends name because he was in a play. I did not know who he was referring to, so I asked "is he your boyfriend?" because I knew he had one that I'd never met. He looked around before whispering "yes".

I was quite surprised he was ashamed to talk about his boyfriend in public considering he's out of the closet and talks about it all the time. He was in the closet for awhile, but his parents and friends accept him now. Are any of you ashamed to talk about your homosexuality in public or refer to your significant other as your boyfriend?

Come on Arthur, have some tact.

Zwack, at first it can be difficult, but soon you become comfortable with yourself and your relationships, even knowing there are homophobic people out there. There are places and situations in which I will not be as "open" about my sexuality, because I just don't care for the hassle, but it's not out of being ashamed but because it makes things easier. It sucks that we live in a world like this, but you find the people and places that accept you 100% :)

Peace,
Mike

Lol, is it 2006 already.

I think my favorite thing is Z works at a floral shop.

Everyone is insecure, why couldn't he just be cheating on someone? No reason it has to be a "gay" thing. Also could totally be why Zwackerm in my face when all I want to do is buy flowers.

I think it really comes down to being unprofessional. Isn't flower shop101 never ask. At least 4 movies taught me that

Its a grocery store, and I know him pretty well. He's discussed his boyfriend with me before, I just didn't remember his name. Its not like he thinks I'm going to harass him. There was not really anyone around anyway.

Mike probably has a sense of humour, hence his comment.

Jesus.

It all depends on the person, not all gay people are comfortable with letting everyone know they're gay. Most of the time I don't care but there are times where I feel self conscious, especially around people who aren't accepting (like relatives :ninja: )

Isn't it the same as straight people, though? I mean, I don't exactly flaunt my relationship in public. zwackerm's friend might just have been whispering "yes" because this other dude is in a relationship or something, and it might not have had anything to do with him being ashamed that he is gay. Some things are just your business and you don't need the world to know it.
