One of my favorite film composers.

The Titanic score is obviously iconic, but his work on House of Sand and Fog is also brilliant as well as countless other movies. What a huge loss to the community.

Southpaw and The 33 seem like they will be his last major releases.

My favorite score of his is Field of Dreams. It is just a great score.

RIP. How do you know you made an impact? When you wrote the score for the top 2 films of all time. Sad news.

I don't have any Horner on my playlists. It's weird. I have all the other composers, but not this supposedly brilliant one. So it's no loss for me at all.

Just watched Aliens today. I remember when almost action trailer used that theme.

So I just looked and he did do some good work. He did Commando, Red Heat, Apocalypto, Troy, and Enemy at the Gates, which all had somewhat cool and interesting scores. But still, nothing that great, and nothing that I would remember without looking. Nothing seems to stand out. He did a lot of generic thriller music for things such as Ransom, The Pelican Brief, Patriot Games, The Devil's Own, The Missing etc. He won the Oscar for Titanic, and I guess that's why most people know his name, but I never liked that score. Funny that he seemed to do quite a few Mel Gibson and Harrison Ford thrillers. Then he won the Oscar and he was too good for them (obviously not true, but it's how it looks).

I think you need to go back and listen to the themes to Patriot Games and Clear and Present Danger. They are all great scores. Sometimes it's just as hard to be solid and effective than memorable. I think his music was very much a companion piece, rather than driving nail. But he could kill it when he needed to. The Ambush scene in Clear and Present Danger, the action scenes for Aliens, and the great overlooked Star Trek theme. Never too generic though I remember once knocking him for Commando's score being the exact same as 48 Hours (But I think they just reused it for the film with different cues)

Typical soppy liberal. Change their views of a man just because they died. Pathetic.

Has everyone really become that numb to him? Take this out of context and imagine a new poster saying these things, they'd be warned and/or banned immediately. At least I hope they would be.

Why waste time with him?
I think bans only happen if there are direct personal attacks to members of the forum. Criticizing or even insulting a famous third person, however disrespectful, I don't really consider a reason for banning.

You see, I think other members aren't retards, and therefore notice that I didn't actually call anyone pathetic for paying their respects. Maybe try and understand things first before opting for your first choice response (attack).

Yeah, it's better to ignore the details of anything that doesn't help you in your agenda to get me banned. lol, you're pathetic. One might also say that starting an argument in a thread that pays respect to a dead person is also indecent. But I am sure you will write more bullshit to validate your actions. Shoot..
