Me too. I have a 7:30 AM flight on Christmas Eve to Los Angeles...I'm not looking forward to how tired I'll be.

I had a 7:40 am flight two weeks ago. Getting up at 5:20 sucked.

Well at least with the time change saving, you will be in LA by Noon on Christmas Eve. And then you will be able to get 3 hours extra sleep if you want?

Your lucky, in the USA, we have to be at the airport at least 2 + hours early, especially if you are bring bags.

That is the regulation everywhere, but it gets waived a lot of the time, especially for non-peak times.

I don't think it's because regulations, Algren. It's because of the long lines and the annoying check in process.

Yeah, it's a widely accepted airline regulation.

It is no regulation here, I am certain of that. It is a strong recommendation.

Yeah, that's just widely accepted travel advice.

Worst flight I ever dealt with was going from Edinburgh to Brussels. That was the longest check in process of my life. And this was at like 2:30 in the morning. Literally had a guy test my shampoo.

Are you guys no good at sleeping on the plane? If I'm lucky I may be able to sleep for an hour.

When I went to Romania, we had a 12+? hour flight from Phoenix to London, which left at 9pm my time. I, surprisingly, slept that entire flight. And then we had a 3? hour flight from London to Bucharest which I think I also slept on, because that also was a late flight.

But coming back from London to Phoenix? I was awake the entire time. Couldn't get myself to fall asleep.

I like the on-board entertainment system too much on long-haul flights, so I tend not to sleep.

Yeah, that's what I did on my way back. Watched 4? movies.

I remember hearing that it is easier to fly one way over another... I forget which way and why so I googled this.....

Jet lag is tougher when traveling east, but precautions can ease its effects

I didn't have jet lag going either way.

Post subject:  Re: I'm tired

I never have jetlag. Didn't have jetlag when I travelled to California (- 9 hrs on my time) or back or any other long-distance travels. That is one of the few advantages of being a permanently sleep-deprived person with no solid sleeping/waking-pattern and rarely sleeping more than 5-6 hours a night. I can be tired and go to bed at any time in any place.

Libs, do you live in LA now, or something?

I'm going to Paris on Christmas day. I'm gonna have some serious jet lag.

No, lol. Seeing family for Xmas for the second year in a row.

I'm excited because I'm flying Virgin for the first time (lol, I just realized that sentence is sort of hilarious) tomorrow. It should be pretty bangin'.

Virgin is a good airline -- efficient staff, clean planes, and an above-par IFE. The ordering system is great.

I am not. But I've never flown with a significant other.

I flew red eye from Rhode Island to Seattle after a full day of work two days ago. By the time I touched down in Seattle, I realized that I had been awake for 24 hours. Never. Again.

On the bright side, though, I don't have to heed a 5 AM alarm this week.
