So long story short: Bill Cosby OK'd the internet to start making memes using his likeness, expecting cute and funny responses. Many took the opportunity to roast the comedian for numerous rape allegations from the earlier days of his career. Now, days later, Cosby's career, which had been stalled for years, has hit a major dead-end as the rape allegations from decades ago are haunting him, threatening his late-age standup career, as well as his upcoming NBC sitcom.

I know the internet has changed so much in the world, to the point where I often forget what it was like when it didn't control virtually everything, but this is a great example of something that just wouldn't happen without the internet. Even in an age before Twitter and the like, this wouldn't have gained as much traction as it has.

Maybe the wrong word. But he did basically disappear after his last sitcom in the 90s. Perhaps his own choice to withdraw from the public eye.

Its over. He needs to let go. He should have just faded away from the limelight at his age and enjoyed his millions.

I guess it is difficult if what you do is not just a job, but your passion too...

Pretty sure he still makes huge bucks from stand up like the old rock stars and that he's still comedy driven enough that he was doing two huge venue shows a day a while back... this will sting

I don't know, it may go away if he goes away with it. I doubt he will do any interviews about it.

IT won't go away. Bill Cosby will go away. But no matter what, whenever his name is mentioned, people will think 'rapist'.

Almost 80 years. One of the most successful sitcoms of all time. A successful stand-up comedian. Books, movies, TV appearances, commercial endorsements.

I think most people still associate MJ with the child molesting... but I think a majority of them look past it for some reason.

Agreed, Chippy. I, too, look past it, because his music is sensational and always will be.

But Bill Cosby, however likeable and charming he was during the 90s sitcom, I don't care for him at all. So he will always be a rapist to me.

I'm still on Cosby's side. Bunch of trash ladies going after someone decades after the fact. As to what that fact is IF there is any to begin with I guess will be undetermined unless one of the trash females actually produces something real other than words popping out of their horrible mouths.

I know he has his group of followers still that will watch anything he makes, but it seems Woody Allen still gets the most beef with his life and people don't overlook it despite his success so why won't Cosby suffer similarly?
