I wouldn't know how to. I'll just take a taxi tomorrow and watch a few films at the same time. The taxi will be $40 return, so I have to make it worth my while. Experiencing the cinema in the USA is my version of people going to gamble or going to the Empire State Building, so I don't mind spending a bit extra.

Do you have a smart phone with you? Download Uber and/or Lyft while you're here...I guarantee you the ride will cost you less than a taxi would.

Also, see La La Land. Because obviously.

Other "pro" Vegas tip: Earl of Sandwich inside Planet Hollywood is open 24/7, has super delicious sandwiches and is relatively cheap compared to most food options on the Strip.

Maybe I'll try Uber. Thanks for the suggestion.

Yes, I plan to see La La Land and another one out of Arrival, Rogue One, Nocturnal Animals. It depends what is on.

I'm a nice person, I swear! I want people to have fun and get the most out of it when they're visiting new places.

I'm in Earl of Sandwich right now tucking into a hot club sandwich. GREAT tip. Absolutely delicious. And it was only $6.99.

So I'm back in China. Vegas isn't a good place, in my opinion. Everything is too tacky and expensive. It's not a culture I like at all. In fact, I hate it. The smoke-infested air, always indoors, gambling everywhere in every bar, with people trying to sell you crack, weed, and cocaine on the street etc. The food is all crap, injected with a million calories. So yeah, not a great trip. And on top of that, we weren't there for leisure. We had to work, which was tiring. The tiny moments of pleasure were nice, such as visiting the cinema, seeing La La Land, finding this really nice tea (Might Leaf's Orange Dulce which I will try to order here in China but probably won't be able to find), the banter with my colleagues, and the hotel beds were AMAZING to sleep in, but apart from those things, the trip was tiring and hard, and in a city that I have never wanted to visit. Some of the things I saw, I cannot un-see. Fuck you, Vegas. ;)

It's really a shame Vegas was your first time in the U.S. (it was, wasn't it?), because it really is tacky and excessively over-the-top, although it can also be really fun for a few days if you're there for pleasure.

Hopefully next time you get here you can visit places like DC, NYC, Chicago and LA.

What hotel were you at anyway?

We stayed in an equally tacky hotel, Flamingos. A pink, cheap, dirty hotel. But the beds were nice. By dirty I mean that there were prostitutes hanging around in the lobby. Quite open. Not trying to hide themselves.

Next time I visit the USA, I hope to visit for myself. Perhaps Los Angeles or Philadelphia, or even better...Canada (British Columbia specifically).

And yeah, this was my first visit to the USA. :(

Ew, the Flamingo is kinda nasty. Haven't ever stayed there myself, but the casino is gross.

I've stayed at Aria (my most recent trip in June for a work conference was there), Planet Hollywood, MGM Grand, Caesars Palace and Paris, if I recall correctly.

At least you can cross it off your bucket list.

Yeah, we went through Caesars, Planet Hollywood, and Paris, and they definitely looked better. Hope I don't go back next year, but if I'm with the same company we will do...just hope we plan better and stay in a better hotel.

Have never really understood the appeal of Vegas or had any interest in visiting.

Then again, I think gambling (as the sole vice in which I haven't really indulged) is stupid.

I agree.

I did not gamble. Not even with one cent. I didn't hire a prostitute or drink alcohol or take drugs while there either. Me and Vegas don't mix.

Vegas is just tacky. I was there for a conference in October and... eh. It really doesn't have any charm, or character beyond its own besides "We steal everything people like elsewhere, but make it gold!" or whatever. It's like the Donald Trump of cities, except with a much higher population of people of latin descent than Donald would ever want to be associated with.

One of the few things I liked over there were the milkshakes at Johnny Rockets, which I'm sure are available elsewhere too and for a much lower price than Las "Pay $20 for a burger and a shake!" Vegas. Eating for two at a fast food place really shouldn't cost $45 even if it's rather good.

Yes! The milkshakes at Johnny Rockets are awesome. Agreed. Actually so are the burgers and fries. I'm pretty easy to feed. I like most things, though I couldn't eat the Cajun '69 sub (too spicy) at one bar.

I loved the fries and burgers there too, just not for $20. :funny:

The first time I went to the US I was very disappointed in the fast food burgers I had (Whataburger, not recommended unless you're used to how sweet American bread can be) and didn't try many others. The last time I went though I tried several, and they were quite good. Both Johnny Rockets and Wendy's have burgers I like, and In&Out Burger was good too. What was also good was that I walked a whole lot while I was over there, or I'd have gained 20 pounds. There is food everywhere over there, with SO many chains of fast food restaurants. Like, over here we've got McDonalds, Burger King and KFC, and beyond that it's just a bunch of local restaurants, in the US you have food courts with like, eight different fast food restaurants in them in every single mall.

My company paid for the food so I didn't notice the cost so much. :funny:

Sadly only been to England and Canada (which doesn't even count) so far.

Would love to travel throughout Europe and East Asia the first chance I get.
