I tried it myself a few times; I said: "Siri are you Her?"

She said: "Jaoquin? Is that you?"

"I'm afraid not. But she could never know you better than I do."

Lmao.

Peace,
Mike

Can I ask: where the hell did "throw shade" come from? I've never heard the term before and now seen it twice in the last two weeks, both, I believe, from Libs.

Dude. Have you been living under the rock? That's kinda old and not even cool anymore.

I had to look it up also.

Quote:
The origins of the term ‘throwing shade’ can be traced to LGBT ball culture in the 1980s. One of the earliest explanations of the phrase appears in Paris Is Burning, a 1990 documentary by Jennie Livingston that chronicles New York City ball culture during mid-to-late 1980s and the African America, latino, gay and transgender communities involved in it. Drag queen Dorian Corey explains the evolution of the term:
Quote:
"If I’m a black queen, and you’re a black queen, we can’t call each other black queens. That’s not a read that is just a fact. So we talk about your ridiculous shape, your saggy face, your tacky clothes. then reading became a developed form where it became shade. Shade is, ‘I don’t tell you you’re ugly, but I don’t have to tell you because you know you’re ugly.’ And that’s shade."

Really? Is that how you insult someone is to ask if they're half a century old?

My apologies to everyone for not being hip to the lingo of the "LGBT ball culture" from the late 80s.

I see what you did there.

It does worry me a little that Bradley sympathizes with my lack of "shade" knowledge...

Siri doesn't tell Her it's ugly because it knows it's ugly?

Doesn't make sense.

don't worry...it may be an old term but it has definitely just recently gotten big again...dunno why, but I assume someone famous started using it regularly and a bunch of people who weren't even alive in the late eighties caught on and brought it back...but yr not crazy. six months ago, probably even less, no one was using that term and now everyone is, so someone recently made it mainstream.

The term has been used a lot by the gays since like 2011

yeah I googled it to see what it was... that dude rupaul apparently brought it back on his show. someone more famous than him must have started using it sometime in the last six months though, because it has definitely gotten a surge pretty recently. or a new season started up and it got some heavy use in the first few episodes.

whatever, point is its much much more recent than late eighties in its current youth vernacular.

Ball culture. Reminds me of watching Paris Is Burning in college.
