10th Annual WOKJ MP Awards - Announcement Thu 6pm EST!
Here we are again. After last year's terrific turnout, I am hoping for another huge number of ballots. Anything below 40 won't make me happy! Please read the rules and the procedure carefully. I have implemented slight changes. Voting Process:Send me your five nominees for each category below. What is important is that you RANK your nominees from #1 to #5 because of the points system. UNRANKED BALLOTS will NOT be counted. If you cannot come up with five nominees for each category, then send me less, but I would REALLY prefer if you all tried to come up with 5 for each category. The Categories:Best Picture (only five nominees here) Best Director Best Actor Best Actress Best Supporting Actor Best Supporting Actress Best Ensemble Best Original Screenplay Best Adapted Screenplay Best Animated Feature Best Documentary (if less than 10 votes are received in this category, the category wil be skipped) Best Foreign Language Film (if less than 10 votes are received in this category, the category wil be skipped) Best Cinematography Best Editing Best Original Score Best Original Song Best Makeup Best Visual Effects Best Art Direction Best Costume Design Breakthrough of the Year (before or behind the camera) Best Sound Best Horror film of the Year Funniest Comedy of the YearDEADLINE: Tuesday, January 28th, midnight PST Send the RANKED ballot to me before the deadline!DON'T FORGET TO RANK THE NOMINEES FROM 1 to 5!You are allowed to change/upgrade your ballot until the deadline. If you do so, send me the entire corrected ballot, not just the corrected category. Important: Do not vote for any movies that you have NOT seen. If I have a grounded suspicion that this is the case, I will call you out on that. Click here for the FYC ThreadClick here for the Categories Clarification ThreadClick here if you want to present a category

Re: 10th Annual WOKJ Motion Picture Awards - Nominations vot
For the first time ever, I think I'll have seen everything I want to by the deadline. Except Rush which doesn't come out on blu-ray till the 28th... I doubt that would have a huge impact on my noms anyways.
Anyways it seems like Gravity is the heavy favorite going in, but it also seemed like Dark Knight Rises would easily win last year and Silver Linings Playbook destroyed it.
All Edgar fans should obviously put World's End in their top passion spot. I doubt it will make much of a difference though, I think only like 5 of us loved it that much.
So let's get Man of Steel into Best Picture instead. Imagine the outrage from half the community? It would be beautiful. And Man of Steel deserves it anyways. My second favorite film of the year, and the best blockbuster by a mile.

I still need to see Her.
There are others, too, including The Invisible Woman and Labor Day, but they won't factor into these awards anyway.

I urge everyone to see All Is Lost, Blue Is the Warmest Color, Byzantium, and Stories We Tell. The latter two are available on home video and digital download! No excuses!

I have yet to see Her, American Hustle, Dallas Buyers Club, The Great Beauty, The Hunt, The Spectacular Now, Fruitvale Station, Saving Mr. Banks and Short Term 12. I'll hope I'll get to at least half of those before the deadline.

Some of you either haven't been faithful in your Films in Review tally or are lying in this thread. I'm pretty sure, for example, that Dr. Lecter hasn't seen all 2013 movies but the nine he mentions.

I'm pretty sure, for example, that Dr. Lecter hasn't seen all 2013 movies but the nine he mentions. What do you mean by "all"? Obviously I have not seen every single one. But I am also not posting in the "Films in Review" thread, so you have no idea how many I have seen (though my occupation should tell you that I, most likely, have seen more than anyone else on here, maaaayybe except for David). I have seen over 250 movies in theatres last year. Out of the Top 150 of 2013 (below) I haven't seen 36 films. http://boxofficemojo.com/yearly/chart/?yr=2013&p=.htmCloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 is the highest-grossing film I haven't seen yet, followed by Anchorman 2. Those I have mentioned are the ones I consider to be potentially largerly relevant to my voting. I also haven't seen The Smurfs 2, all of Tyler Perry's flicks or Instructions Not Included, but I doubt either would be of my relevance to my voting.
