Quote:
Musician Beck and actor Til Schweiger are embroiled in a legal battle over the state of a rented property.

Beck paid $11,000-a-month to live in a Malibu, Calif., mansion owned by the “Inglourious Basterds” star between 2010 and February 2013, but Schweiger claims the musician has caused thousands of dollars of damage to the home.

Both men agree the mansion is in poor condition, but each holds the other responsible and have launched lawsuits, according to editors at TMZ.com.

The “Loser” hit maker claims there were multiple issues with the house when he moved in, including mold, problems with the plumbing, and electrical issues which in turn damaged several appliances in the home.

Schweiger alleges Beck had unauthorized work carried out to the property while he was renting it that caused “substantial physical damage” costing $40,571 to repair.

Beck is now reportedly suing the German for refusing to return his $11,000 deposit, while Schweiger is countersuing for the cost of repairs and unpaid rent totaling $56,704.

$56,704 - unlike his acting, this sum is very exact and precise.

This came from TMZ. I wouldn't believe much of the article.

Germany doesn't have superstars.

Katarina Witt or maybe Angela Merkel? The latter made a list of most admired female politicians. This was a list where respondents (U.S.) had to name someone rather than picking from a list. Roughly 2% of respondents named her. Which is rare when most cannot name their own Senator.

Obviously there are some great historical ones. Frederick II is one of my favorites though he spent little time in Germanic areas. The guy was excommunicated multiple times and didn't much care.

Perhaps Merkel does count, as the exception to the rule. As far as sport stardom goes, Steffi Graf might be one also, but not Katarina Witt, at least not anymore.
