I would agree with that, though it's not at all my place to agree or disagree. And it certainly doesn't mean that Tim Allen can say the actual word because he personally finds "The N-Word" more offensive. That's like saying "Well, if I rape AND kill this person, that's worse than just rape".
I'm not trying to turn this into a race issue. It's more of a funny story about how Tim Allen is trying to be relevant in 2013.

I can't speak for the black community, but I believe when a word carries that much weight, it's probably best that, when you're white, you don't pass off centuries of history just because you want to tell a joke with the N-word in it. Also, saying one is not racist doesn't necessarily ever mean one is not actually racist. I can't imagine a joke Tim Allen could write that would necessitate the use of the word and be funny.

Nigger is one of my favourite words. Blacks don't like it when I use it, though. It's very odd how one word can get them so angry and in fits of rage. I laugh at them while they act like a toddler screaming and crying in order to get The Man's attention.

I believe Allen is rebelling against a culture of fear and resentment over a word, a type of culture which results in an atmosphere which is not healthy for the state of race relations in America.

Words are only as powerful as you make them out to be. It's a heated topic but stance is somewhat a mix of Chippy's and David's as I still don't say nigger as I find it trashy, but forbidding the word from use makes it a more powerful word and if anything it worsens race relations at this point. But then again we did vote for Donald Trump, so maybe we are not ready.
