My pulse is really low but that is due to exercise. I am not sure if that and low blood pressure correlate or not. I considered going to the doctor but do not have time.

I dislocated my shoulder a few weeks out of my race last year so couldn't do everest or the berlin walls, but still got owned by the arctic enema. That shit will fuck you up! Yeah I'm doing it with 6 friends (4 guys, 2 girls).

One thing they don't tell you, is that a ton of douches enter without trying to get fit beforehand, so hordes of people end up walking and/or bypassing obstacles. It's really as hard as you want it to be. We were running up to 15km (10m) leading up to the race, but that's probably overkill. Great goal to keep motivated and disciplined though! No I'm not training but I've run marathons before and I keep up with a steady regimen so I don't really need to.

Re: Diet and Exercise Thread
My biggest advice for the Tough Mudder is to do a lot of pull ups, make sure you can run a half marathon, and make sure you're in a group of people who will help you with the walls.
Other than that, it's not THAT hard. And it CAN be fun. (I didn't train enough for the running so I hated the last 4 miles)

I'm about to go to the gym with one of my best friends and sign up for my first membership ever. I've never been athletic and I've never been to the gym. I'm not giant but I'm chunky. I just want to get into shape. I'm terrified. #dontmakefunofme

Re: Diet and Exercise Thread
Start with cardio, and work your way up. If you make it a routine, it can be easy to get into.

Why are you hanging out at the Sumo gym?
(Back off racists! I know Sumo is Japanese, but there are also Chinese Sumo wrestlers)

How else are they supposed to get fit?
I laugh at in shape people going to the gym. You're in shape, why are you at the gym? Does your life suck that much?

As soon as they step on the treadmill they have to step off again for lack of air. Puffing and panting away just by looking at a dumbbell. Fatties always make me laugh. I do try and give them words of encouragement, though...like "Hey fatso! Hurry up".

Also, when you're actually fit, working out makes you feel fucking great. You can actually use the machines and benefit from them! Fat people on the other hand..

They don't have to work out to maintain their physique.

Indeed they don't. Actually, watching them doing anything is funny.

Re: Diet and Exercise Thread
I've been going to advanced boot camp classes (read: really hardcore) directed by my trainer the last few weeks. I've never felt so good and so bad at the same time.
Well, except maybe the times I finished my marathons.

Re: Diet and Exercise Thread
About a year ago I received a Fitbit and it was a horrible gift. It made what was already a slight addiction (running) into a full addiction and now my body is really starting to pay for it in terms of feeling injured and weight loss and I do not need to lose weight. I eat constantly (albeit junk like cookies and sugar free Red Bull) and still lose and always feel hungry and have trouble taking breaks to let my body heal. I am near certain I have plantar fasciitis and think I either have or am close to having a stress fracture in the same foot.
I am thinking about seeing a doctor for it, the mental part, that is. Last month I ran 230 miles and that doesn't count the additional 262 miles spent walking/normal activities.

Over the past year I've probably run a good .2-.3 miles in total.

Gurl, give your body a break! Definitely see a doctor. I love running and run 5-7 miles per day on average, and that's still like half of what you're doing.

I hardly run anymore. Actually, I haven't run for a reason in over a year.
Still healthier than all y'all though.

Still healthier than all y'all though. Resting heart rate of 39 bpm. However, other than that, I probably am unhealthy overall.

Re: Diet and Exercise Thread
Yep! Spot on. Running long distances doesn't exactly help with body shape.
You want to lose weight, tone up and/or look cut? Do jumping jacks (10 lots of 20) + burpees (10 lots of 10) + pushups (10 lots of 10) and that will do the trick (with good eating offcourse).
