I'm doing a 5K in September, so I'm gonna start training for that this Saturday. Never done one before, but it will be a helluva lot easier than 13 miles.

Woooooo
I'm doing a full marathon in September. I think my body is going to hate me over the next two months.
I don't think I ever could/want to do a FULL marathon. A half seemed like it took forever, I don't know how people do a full. Insanity.

I guess we'll see lol, the most I've done before is a half. Although I have run 20 miles consecutively once or twice in my life so I think I'll be ready.
I think reducing calories is a tad more important, but every body is different and will react differently.

Re: Diet and Exercise Thread
So prior to having my baby daughter 3 months ago I was on an exercise/gym routine that hadn't happened since college. It was great! I went to the gym every day and actually put on 15 lbs (I am 31 but still struggle to maintain any muscle mass). I haven't gone back since my daughter was born, but hope to go back soon.
And if I eat the right foods (which after getting married has been easier) I tend to have to eat at least 2500 calories or I actually start losing weight. Over the 4th I put in a concrete paver patio and lost 6 lb because of sweat/not eating enough calories.

If you're having trouble maintaining muscle mass take a look at your protein intake...it might need to be upped. There is a recommended ratio of grams of protein per pounds of body weight.

Haha, yes my wife had the baby! She did all the work ... 48 hours of labor and got stuck @ 8 cm. Grueling process. But the baby has been super easy after 2-3 weeks. Just wants a lot of attention to "play".

Based on what I have read, I intake the normal amount of protein for my body weight (I am 6'4", 185-190). I have seen a doctor about it or really brought it up. I will try to increase the protein intake and see if that helps.

Re: Diet and Exercise Thread
Well after eating all kinds of amazing food at my grandma's house on vacation, I'm finally starting to eat healthy. Pretty much just sticking to fruits and vegetables during the day. No junk food and just drinking water and possibly some sort of juice on occasion.
Now to figure out the exercise part...

Oh yeah, I am going to say my goal is to lose 17 pounds overall.
Has anyone ever heard of the ROC Race? It's a 5K but it's set up to be like Wipeout the TV show.
They just announced a Phoenix race and I really wanna do it.

I'd really like to do The Zombie Run. 3.1 miles of running away from undead that crave brains? Sign me up. But alas, the nearest site they have right now is in New York. And even though I'm going back home in a couple weeks, the Seattle one is after I leave again.
I'm getting back to running on a daily-ish basis. I'm probably not going to do any on Tuesdays and Thursdays because I have class from 1 to 9, but otherwise, I'm braving the humidity and doing it. On top of it being a good time for me to clear my head, I also need to consider the pounds I've packed on from doing significantly more junk food consumption and drinking in grad school than I did in undergrad (though, to qualify that statement, I barely ever drank in undergrad, and the people in my grad school program really, really love their alcohol).

I was close to signing up for the Zombie Run... but it's WAY too expensive for a 5K.
At least, IMO.
I thought the exact same thing.

fatass.
jk
I'm in the 180's now, which is strange because I don't really look it, and people tell me I don't look like I weigh that much. At the gym I don't really push myself, and I eat way too much fcking chinese food. I'm taking a semester off right now I think one thing I need to do is start eating better/going to the gym more.

I went below 140 this week. Difficulty gaining weight and blood pressure hitting 98 over 58 consistently.
