Post Groucho's wife makes art out of dryer lint
Seriously!

The new Ripley's Believe it or Not book is out, and on page 194 there is a short bit about my wife, who does art made out of dryer lint.

Ripley's chose three of her pictures and one of them was one she did of Tony's Dog. Why they chose these three is beyond us, as we think there are much better ones out there.

Here's the book: Image

Here's my wife's web page: http://www.heidihooper.com

Impressive on your wife being in the book.

Also, impressive is the lint art. I visited the page and saw her work and it looks good, but that's definitely something I wouldn't have the patience to do.

Hey Mrs Groucho,

You should do a series of them with Groucho and Tony naming them Dumb and Dumber...

I don't recall the name of the book that your dog is published in? Or the piece of art that he is the subject of? Oh yeah, that's right: your dog isn't in any book or artwork.

It's finally official:

My dog > your dog

We can finally conclude this debate! My dog is being a good sport, though. He wants me to tell your dog to "suck it".

Don't forget that Tony's Dog also won some ribbons in art competitions before being purchased by Ripley's Believe it or Not and is now on display in a Ripley's Museum somewhere.

So while I was in the Barnes and Noble at the mall, sipping on my Starbucks frap and dodging paparazzi, I suddenly saw this book on display and I checked out the page with Tony's dog.

Cool shit.

I saw the book at Target today and had to show off the page to my roommate.

This book thing has upped my art "street cred" with my wife, who is an art teacher. She's pretty impressed and dumbfounded that I somehow had something to do with art.

That's awesome Groucho.

Why tumble dryer lint? Is there something specific about it that your wife likes, or is it more the challenge of creating art with an unusual medium?

Some kid from the 90's Nickelodeon show 'Figure It Out' did the same thing.

It's a really cool talent.

To quote Ralph Wiggum... that's unpossible! My dog wasn't even born in the early 90's.

My mistake! They used a picture of the Tony's Dog but they don't own it. They bought about 15 pieces a while ago and put them in their various museums, but Tony's Dog is currently at A Mano Galleries in New Hope, PA (near Philly) and is still for sale.

Sorry! Not as exciting as knowing it's in a museum.

There are actually a number of people who do this, we found out recently. She didn't know that until she started doing it and we did some searches. Still, Ripley's apparently thought Heidi's were the best, because they contacted her and bought a bunch and put her in the book!

I was actually mistaken.

The girl in Figure It Out made paper out of dryer lint.
