Thanks! She's still in a bit of shock, because usually when she takes her art to a gallery, they go "Dryer lint? No thanks" so it's great that a huge organization like Niche (which runs an art magazine carried by galleries all over the US and Canada) take it seriously and give her their highest award. :)

Congrats to your wife

Also, do you know what happened to Tony himself? He hasn't posted here in years it seems.

Got an Xbox One which reminded me of the olden days, and I've got apparently 15 hours while the piece of shit updates and installs NBA 2K14 so thought I'd say hey.

Hey.

But that was only a single post. His last was in November 2012.

Good to know he is still alive and kicking, saddened to hear he is still in the Microsoft camp. But then he wouldn't really be Tony if he wasn't

Wow. Glad to know nothing bad happened to Tony. I was definitely worried since he hadn't posted in so long.

Congrats to your wife Groucho. How long does it take her to make a picture like that? It's got to be time consuming.

Because she's a cancer survivor who lost her upper arm and back muscles, she can only work a few hours a day before she has to relax and possibly get into her lymphedema machine so yeah, they take quite a long time to make.

In the past, the galleries sold her smaller pieces for around $300 or so, which is based partly on the fact that it's dryer lint. While that's what makes it cool, some people don't want to spend a lot of money on art made from recycled materials (which is silly because come on, how much does a bit of paint cost, yet people will pay lots of money for a painting).

Anyway, now she's making these big ones (this one is 2 feet by 3 feet) and it's taking even longer. Because of the bigger sizes and this win, the galleries will be able to up their prices.

Tony should have bought the one she did of his dog while he had the chance.

Bragging about my wife again. Here's her piece "Dali in Dryer Lint" which was nominated for the Niche Award this year (but lost). Anyway, it was just purchased by Ripley's Believe it or Not, so you'll see it in one of their museums soon.

Usually, when something is "purchased", as stated above, compensation is involved.

Yes and this one sold in the thousands of dollars. Yes, that's plural. :wub2:

That's awesome.

Did we ever confirm if Tony is still alive?

Here's a cool picture of David Tennant signing a dryer lint portrait of David Tennant. He apparently was very impressed with my wife's work.

Bumping to brag about my wife's art again. She's had a great year -- she's won some awards and sold a lot of big pieces (selling for $5000 each!)...
