It's definitely not unusual for atheletes to have affairs, or to go around raping people like Kobe or Big Ben... I do wonder why the Woods one has become such a big deal. Well, in Letterman's defense he has weathered criticism before such as the Palin fallout where he had to apologize and when that scandal broke he came right out an apologized on his show. He used his platform to his benefit and joked about himself and his situation and people got over it like that.

Tiger doesn't have that platform and in Dave's case I only recall 2-3 people but Tiger's closet is very wide...

Also, he didn't apologize live and in person immediately.

You're downplaying what Letterman did, though. He was messing around with people that worked directly under him (pun intended). This is 100% unethical and may be borderline illegal. Most companies would've fired an executive that did that.
