Okay, I really want to know something: why is it when women are with their friends, they'll talk about how cute a guy is, or how "hunk"ish he is (man, that word makes me want to vomit), or... get this... that a guy has a cute butt. Why is it that women can do that freely, and not feel like it's wrong, but a guy saying a girl is hot is a completely different story? Women say it around other women, it's fun and games. Men say it around other men, and suddenly they're a bunch of pigs.

Better example: your girlfriend tells you there are certain celebrities she thinks are cute. Okay, I didn't really have a problem with it. There's a difference between liking and complete infatuation, and I know she's not infatuated with anyone else (I hope...). But, I say that celebs like Jennifer Garner or Sarah Michelle Gellar are attractive, and she freaks about it! And it's not just her, I've seen it happen to other couples. What the hell?

EVEN better... is there REALLY no way men can win? Any other guys or girls face these problems?

It's not what you say, it's how you say it.

True. But, I'm still talking about innocent remarks. Women tend to freak over anything of the sort, so I would like a woman's opinion, too. Libs? Dolce? Someone? I mean, saying something like "Wow, check out the-- okay, won't go there, but you get the idea. Something like that is a definite no-no. But, even innocent comments can cause catastrophic tragedies.

Mr.X, I'm going to give you some advice that was never given to me, and it's going to save you a lot of time and frustration.

Women are never going to be understood. We'll cure every disease known to man first. It's best to just accept it the way it is, and focus on how you can improve yourself in their eyes. Trust me, it's much easier that way.

Well X. You can call a woman hot and no one as such seems to have that big a problem anymore.

Its a little different with a gf and bf situation i guess.

Heres how i think about it.

Look at how men are. They are more than willing to go out with a girl on only the physical reasons. If a girl is hot, you want her. Even someone like me, who only cares for long term relationships (and hence, the looks become pretty irrelevant) takes the opportunity to check every girl out. Women on the other hand, their reason for going out with guys tends to be less the physical look (relatively speaking if compared to guys unless theyre kiddies).

remember, women are the fairer sex for a reason. They average girl is more physically better looking than the average guy. Hence, there are more men who base their preferences on nothing more than looks (or looks in general for men play a bigger part) and in women, there are less who just base it on looks (or put less emphasis on looks)

Conclusion: Commenting in front of your gf that someone is hot can lead to situations of insecurities as its all that takes sometimes for a guy to be interested. Hence the fit. With men, if my gurl ever says someone is hot (even if its someone i personally know), i just yawn and continue posting on this site ; )

ofcourse, i never let people get away with it. i show them this double standard and emphasize it every opportunity i get : )

If men only said it in front of other men I don't see how it would ever be a problem because women wouldn't ever know about it.

Mr.X, dont even begin to argue or question things, women always win.

I don't have a problem with a guy saying some actress is hot. Now if it was my bf looking some random girl on the street and he said check out that @ss yes I would get pissed. BUt I can talk with both my guy and girl friends about that and none of use really care.

When women chat about men they think are "hunky", they are identifying alpha males and gene patterns they might want to see in their future child.

When men chat about women they think are "hot", they are identifying meat they wouldn't mind spooging on or slapping around a bit.

Hence, men are pigs.

Don't kid yourself Rusto-y, there are no two better words in the English language than "whory ladies".

It's because as Baba alluded to, guys have more of a reputation as being solely interested in the physical aspect.

On a related subject, what I find really amusing about the difference between men and women is how women are more likely to rationalize their choices by projecting qualities onto the guys they lust over. I mean for example, a guy will see Jennifer Aniston and think, yeah she's probably a bitch but I'd do her. A woman on the other hand (obviously not all women...), tends to think oh Brad Pitt is so hot, I bet he's also honest, intelligent, kind and good with small animals and children. He's a great actor, so under-rated.

I rarely ever win an argument. Mainly because I've been programmed to know that I'm either wrong or totally screwed. And, if I think a woman comments on another guy, she's not always thinking "I bet he would make a great husband".

But, my girlfriend thinks Alan Rickman is cute, so I find it hard to take her opinion of male celebrities seriously. Kind of like Snrub not being able to take my opinion seriously, when I say that Jennifer Garner is attractive.

Your saying Jennifer Garner is attractive has little to do with my not taking your opinion seriously. Your attraction to that manly jawed, freakishly skulled celebrity is merely the cherry on top of the cupcake of disappointment you've baked over the years.

I'll fight you for it Snrub. either that or I think we should wrap Rod in it, kidnap him, and drag him to the next movie night.

BTW...I've been chasing you around the forums begging for you to watch Black Cat, white Cat. If you haven't noticed, I'm recommending it again, and I think you'll love it more than anyone here.

Hey, that spot of a person who is so disappointed in me that he must ridicule me forever is filled by Rusty. You can have the vacant spot of the person who is secretly in love with me. Rusty previously held that spot. It's still nice and warm.

I'll buy it on Monday and have an opinion for you by Tuesday at the latest!

That is, so long as a certain rainbow flag finds it's way into my lap...
