Wow! At least you didn't have any damage you needed to deal with. Tough for the speeding dude who doesn't know how to stop at the right time! |

I was in a car crash once. I was in the passenger seat and a car bumped into the side where I was sitting. I got covered in a slurpee and I couldn't get out of my door cause it was stucked closed. Very scary. Probably the scariest time ever in the car. |

The lack of damage to your car has very little to do with it being an SUV, the real quesiton is what kind of car was he driving? Also 30 MPH seems like a alot, at that speed it doens;t make alot of sense that they woudl be no damage to your car, bumper are rated at uner 5miles per hour, it only takes 15mph to damage a car. I prone to believe the 30mph is an over estimation. |

I prone to believe the 30mph is an over estimation. I fear I must play my "cop card" one more time: Ripper is right, an accident with a 30mph point of impact causes a considerable amount of damage. Much more than most people think. If you'd like to experment at home, simply drive your vehicle at 30mph into a solid wall or tree and see how the bumper holds. Be sure to take pictures and post them when you get out of the hospital! On another note, going from 35mph to zero instantly can kill you as your heart was not designed to withstand that force. So, if you do the above experiment, try not to hit the 35 mph speed. Which reminds me, I have stacks and stack of pictures of accidents and dead bodies on cases I've worked. Unfortunately, good taste precludes me from posting them. I have one last note, this thread reminds me of the time that Snrub posted that he had been "rearended". Only, there were no vehicles involved, and it occurred when he was in prison. |

Did you not get his information at all? License plate? Name? Address? Bad for many reasons! 1. In many states, you are required to do so by law, for insurance purposes if nothing else. 2. Whiplash injuries sometimes do not manifest themselves until a few days later. Your neck hurts a bit but once the muscles relax again, you can hardly move. (We'll see how you feel tomorrow!) You may need to sue this guy and you don't even know who he is! Whenever there is an accident and there might be some pain, no matter how slight, you should see a doctor as soon as possible just in case. I have had cases where a person was rear-ended and days later they were in pain and went to see a doctor and because we didn't have hard evidence of the injury at the time it happened, it made settling the case so much harder. I hope you are OK and my worries are for nothing. |
