I know we are friends but I don't want it to cost him alot and stuff. plus I would need to find away to tell me parents how I got it.

Cari, your parents would be idiots if they were actually upset you were getting a free laptop. Do they know hom much those things usually cost. I bet you they'll be fine with you getting it from a friend. Its going to save them a couple humdred dollars. I would just not present it as an option for them. I would say "Mom, Dad, a friend offered to give me his/her expensive laptop for free because (s)he is getting a new one, only thing is it needs to get shipped. What's the most economic shipping rate that will still gaurantee that it doesn't get damaged?" That way, they know you've already accepted, but still feel like part of the decision making process because they get to help you decide how to handle shipping.

yeah they would care considering Corey is an online buddy. hes got 6 laptops and he said he does not need 6 and wants to give me one. I feel guilty taking it for free Corey does not want me to pay anything but I want to pay something.

Don't pay a penny if he doesn't want it. If someone is offering you something out of the kindness of their heart, its sometimes an offense when you don't just accept it. It makes them feel like you think they are not being sincere. He's probably happy that he can help someone out. If anything, just do payment on delivery so that he doesn't pay shipping. If he insists on that too, go for it.

Online is better, if they knew he lived in Australia, then they wouldn't worry about you guys ever meeting, or your conduct being unbecoming (as you've informed us of their thought on relationships in another thread). They should be comforted that he doesn't live up the block.

If that doesn't work, lie. I don't always believe honesty is the best policy. Say that you have a friend girl from school who knows this guy who is trying to get rid of 5 laptops. He's willing to send them to anyone this girlfriend of your knows, and you told her you'd take one. Its not a scam since you can do cash on delivery, so if it never shows, you don't pay a penny, and that it. End of Story. Then ask them, as I said, what's the best delivery method, so that you can tell your friend to let her friend know how you want it sent to your house.

Damn bloody straight you will. Its a free nice laptop from someone who lives half the world away and can't even hold it over your head if he wanted to. Hell I've dated people and given them sex for much less than a good laptop.

If you're that worried, have it delivered to a p.o. box, or to a place of work, or to your school.

Neostorm brings up a good point.

Here's what I have to say on this subject...

1. Never shall the name Corey be used unless it is referring to me. Thus I demand the above posts be edited to say something like "lessercorey" or "unimportantcorey".

2. This girl I know in Texas trusted me with her address. I've only known her for 4 months. Not all people are gonna be crazy stalkers. Most of this world is good, you just don't hear about the good.

3. I want a laptop :(
