There isn't a formal one at the moment. It's something I'd like to off-load over the coming months if possible, by the end of July would be ideal.

The time has come for me to part with WoKJ. The obvious question is why, so let me try and explain:

Late last year I had my first child, a daughter, who is nearing 5 months old. Just a month ago, I was promoted at work, to an exciting but demanding position. The baby, and the job, require my full attention, and I want to give it to them.

I've been lucky enough to operate WoKJ for over a decade now, and in doing so have managed a dedicated server where the site (and other properties I own / host) live. I frankly haven't been able to do much of anything in this avenue since I launched Box Office Seer, and while the time spent managing it all isn't much, it's time I need to have back.

So, the server will be shut off. The sites shut down. The lights turned low. Unless of course someone else want's to pick up the torch and move the site in whatever direction they may fancy. The site does generate some revenue via forum ads, enough that a new owner may conceivably break even by moving to some type of non-dedicated environment. Or they're welcome to keep my dedicated server, add their own sites, maybe even keep some of the clients I have, who knows!

As to Algren's question about how much work is required ... the answer is ... it depends. Back when WoKJ was bumping, the forum couldn't exist on a shared hosting environment, not enough power and it would crawl. We went out and got a dedicated server, which costs more (I believe $840 last year). WoKJ makes a good chunk of that on ad-revenue ($400-$700, it varys), and then I host other people's sites on the server to make up the difference. A lot of the time comes from managing those other sites, fielding questions, sending out bills, etc. The other side is what happens when the server crashes? I feel a responsibility to act ASAP to get it back up and running, and that's a responsibility I would like to shed. You'd be surprised how much of a PITA repairing crashed tables can be when they store millions of posts.
