Post Adoption
Has anyone ever adopted a baby? My sister has been waiting since Christmas 2014 for a baby and she still has heard nothing two years later. They are a responsible middle class family with one biological daughter and their home is fine for raising children. What could be a reason they are not being picked?

There are so many checks that it is near-impossible to adopt a child these days. If a dog barks in the next street, you're not adopting a child any time soon. It is ridiculous.

In a way I find it good that children are not being given away left and right without checks. But on the other hand, if it has become this crazy and has gotten out of hand, it is a shame for the kids who do not get adopted for years because of this stuff.

Totally on both accounts.

I've thought about adopting, but alas, with a child on the way, I have not looked into it.

But I'll say one thing... money talks. Throw enough money at the adoption agency and... baby.

Update.

My sister has been chosen by a birth mother! They've met the baby and are finalizing the paperwork now! Hopefully the birth mother doesn't change her mind before they get everything signed.

I would worry that there will be issues when the child grows up and wants to find his real parents.

I think it's an open adoption. But I'll have to ask. However, they're quite busy with the baby right now.
