Vorm is one of the most pointless substitutions I've seen in any football match anywhere.

But the first two goals against Brazil could have so easily been disallowed. The third, however, was a good and clean goal. Holland deserved the win. Brazil were just cheating throughout the entire game.

And I have to mention: Daley Blind. What a name :funny:

Germany should roll. Argentina looked pretty bleh against the Netherlands.

Rooting for the Germans. Go Müller!

Yep, fully behind Germany here too!

Hopefully they can show that the Argies aren't a good "team". Hopefully Podolski can get on and grab a goal, as well as Klose.

Apparently Vorm's substitution was not pointless. Holland are the only team to have used all 23 players in a World Cup. :funny:

Given how Brazil defense has looked so far against Netherlands, it likely lessens the awe we felt about Germany. And it's hard to play two perfect games in a row. I'm thinking Argentina will pull out a win.

But two of the Netherlands' goals were bad referee decisions.

Well, Silva should have been sent off for his first foul, and given how unorganized Brazil defense looked even with him the rest of the game, Netherlands would have easily made the game a joke anyway if playing 11 vs. 10.

Precisely. If that was indeed a penalty (which it wasn't), then Silva should have had a red card and been sent off. The second goal was also offside. But, I think that the referee didn't care too much because it was basically a wasted game anyway. Nobody cares about the third-place play-off.

Actually the correct call should have been a red card and a freekick instead of penalty.

Yeah, that's what I eluded to. The decision as it was, was stupid. If the referee truly believed it was inside the area, then Silva should have been sent off. As he wasn't sent off, a free-kick outside the area should have been given. But really, a red card should have been shown, regardless of whether a free-kick or a penalty was given.

You must mean alluded. ;)

And I agree with the bolded sentence completely. The referee might or might not have seen correctly where Silva pulled obben, but he sure as hell saw that he pulled him and that warrants a red.

And here is hoping that Müller can score at least once.

BTW, I think it is a travesty that Manuel Neuer wasn't nominated for Golden Ball:

http://www.sportingnews.com/soccer/stor ... l-nominees

I get that there is a separate category for goalkeepers, but that didn't stop Oliver Kahn from winning the Golden Ball back in 2002 - and c'mon, Neuer is better in this World Cup than Kahn was back in 2002. And they nominated Lahm - for what?
