Paul is overrated, but put him on the Spurs? Well then they have more than a good chance of knocking off GS. As long as Kawhi is healthy and Pop is coach.

All it took was the 7th pick and Levine to get Butler? Boston probably screwed up by not matching that, but great for Sota.

At least she finally admitted that Shake it Off was plagiarized. White people obviously couldn't shake it off before the cultural appropriation.

How can cavs sign anyone considering they are already way over the salary cap. Spurs also need Manu and Parker to retire to afford Paul.
I'm surprised they haven't retired already lol

OKC got George for basically the same deal that they traded Ibaka for (Oladipo and Sabonis)... Sure

the West got stronger while the East got weaker.
In the meantime LBJ has 2 fewer ballers to compete with in the East.

Re: NBA Thread - What Now?
Did George sign an extension with OKC? If he didn't then he'll be on the Lakers this time next year...unless OKC shows vast improvement with him. Then maybe he'll stay.
As for the Celtics not getting him, it sucks, but again, they needed a guarantee he'd stay. It's not worth giving up picks and starters for a year rental.
And for Griffin, the Clip just gave him a deal he couldn't refuse. It's a stupid move on their part as the plan should be to rebuild and then maybe move to Seattle, but it's not like his injury problems are going to get better. I mentioned Seattle, maybe they thought they needed a centerpiece and not just be a dumpster fire if they move there. It's just a dumb deal.
However, if Danny and the Celtics don't get Hayward, he should probably stay inside for awhile because he's going to get a lot of shit wherever he goes. To have so many trade offers leak and then come up with nothing would be embarrassing.

Guy(s)?
The Bradley aspect of signing Hayward makes little sense other than to give him the max, but no. Losing Olynyk is not a big deal and Miami signing him to a $50m deal is fucking insane. He had a great Game 7, but was merely a decent role player the rest of the time.

Re: NBA Thread - What Now?
One could make an argument that blowing up the team now would be smarter than waiting for LeBron to leave again. Or they could all just calm down and realize that being able to cruise into the finals is still the best position to be in. Wall signing the supermax with Washington also screws up the potential super team in LA. So just roll it back, play better in next years finals and see what happens after that.

Yea I don't think they should trade Lebron. Might as well make the Finals and hope one of Curry, Durant, or Draymond is injured.
I wouldn't be surprised if Irving actually stays with the team this year. Then the team is blown up the following year (Lebron to Lakers, Irving to ??, Love to ??)

Re: NBA Thread - What Now?
Interesting theory I heard is Cavs and Clippers could have agreed to a Kyrie trade but can't do it until August 28th which is when some players from the Paul trade are available to trade again. Getting Deandre and Beverley (and prospects/picks) would be a good fit for the Cavs to compete next year
Right now, I'd rather have Kyrie than that package, but Kyrie wanted to go so what can you do. I think it's a good deal, don't think there's a better one out there, and that Brooklyn #1 could become very sweet. Don't know about Zizic, but with Thomas, I've liked him since he entered the league and they get back about 80% of Kyrie right away. With or without Kyrie, I'd say they'd win the East anyway, but would still come up short to Golden State also. Maybe the Cavs are not done trading yet either. Love has never gelled as well as one would hope.

How? They got one of the ten best players in the world for 3 maybes. As a Cavs fan I hate the deal, but I seem to be in the minority.
Isaiah had the better season than Kyrie last year imo, while Kyrie is younger and has the upside to have a Harden like breakout on his own team, it's not even a guarantee he's the better PG and when Crowder is added in there's a realistic argument the Cavs are better after this deal. And then they got a probable top 5 pick and Zizic which really helps them convince Lebron to stay if they draft an exciting prospect with it or trade the pick for a star next deadline/draft

Re: NBA Thread - What Now?
My concerns
1) Thomas had a fantastic year, but before he got to Brad Stevens he was a mid level streaky shooter. The Cavs already have plenty of those. There is atleast a 50/50 chance that he regresses back to that player.
2) Brooklyn sucks, but so does the rest of the East. Would it be that crazy if they won 30 games and ended up with the 7th or 8th pick? I remember precious unprotected picks being exchanged for Harden and Paul, and those ended up being late lottery.
3) Boston has been trying to unload Crowder's contract since the start of free agency and nobody wanted him ... for free.
4) Isaiah scored like 12 pointe in the most important series of his life. Isaiah's #1 seeded team got blown out by 50 at home in that series. Kyrie can score 25+ points against the best defense on the biggest stage and has hit an NBA finals winning shot.

Re: NBA Thread - What Now?
Crowder has an undervalued contract, he's been in trade rumors a lot but it's for guys like Paul George, overall he is a really good asset especially against Warriors where Cavs were desperate for a SF defender who can shoot 3s last year
Thomas was a mess health wise in the Cavs series so it's hard to hold it against him. Though health concerns are part of the problem with him.
