Post Re: Formula 1 2009
It was a great weekend and topsy turvy race. Good to see Button win though wish Barrichello was off the podium - he didnt deserve it after his demo derby session hitting cars left and right.

Ive tipped Kubica for the WDC but he should have been more careful. His main rivals Ferrari and Mclaren were nowhere and he could have come away with some nice points.

Kudos to Ross Brawn - the man is a genius.

Red Bull are looking good and are also contenders and so too Toyota and Williams. A shame Rosberg had a bad race as he was fast all weekend.

Also its better to not have KERS than have it at this stage. Its too heavy and has more negatives than positives - just look at Heidfeld who had it while Kubica didnt.

Ferrari, Mclaren and co will eventually copy the Brawn/Williams/Toyota diffusers and be quicker but that will take some time.

Here are a couple of vids i took at the start of the race;

Yeah its a joke. Apparently FOM own any film or photo that you take at a grand prix. Though they didnt remove all my vids.

BTW - if you get a chance try and see Eric Bana's "Love the Beast" documentary. Worth watching. Ive posted about it in the critics forum.

What loon decided to have the race in the evening in Malaysia. The circuit looked like a river at one point.

Its Bernies fault. Greedy bastard pushing Oz and Malaysia to have night races. Economically not viable so the compromise was twilight.

Outside of that it was a great race when it was only raining light and everyone was guessing on the best tires to have. Kudo's to Glock on getting it right.

Hmmm Vettel on Pole, imagine how fast again that Red Bull will be when they stick a twin diffuser on it.

Superb drive from Vettel, if he gets a competive car for the rest of the season, he could win the championship. But i guess the others are starting to gain on Brawn GP and Red Bull soon enough.

This season is shaping up to be the most random since 1982.

Things will probably change as of Spain when all the teams come up with their new aero and double decker diffusers etc.

Ferrari are now taking the FIA to court over the budget cup and the two tier system, good lord what a mess.

I see the merit in the budget cap but this two tier idea is nuts.

Yeah 2-tier is a joke and will not happen.

The Budget cap is ok if they up the cap offcourse.

Fuck Max mosely, he's trying to kill the sport once and for all.

I dont understand how he is still in power after all his antics (personal and FIA related).

Without the big teams and drivers, F1 will be a farce. I for one wont be watching if the big guns get replaced by the likes of Lola, Prodrive and USF1!!!! But in a way (as much as I hate it) I want them to stick it up Max/FIA and not file entry for next year.

As for the Hungarion GP, what a crazy weekend...

1. Massa's crash - a horrible freak accident. The chances of that happening must be one in a million. Im glad he is ok and recovering.
2. The live timing issue at the end of qualifying..WTF??
3. A great race by 2009 and by Hungary standards. Glad to see Hamilton and Kimi back on top albiet for one race.
5. Renault being penalised for releasing Alonso and BANNING them from next race. Crazy nonsense!!

So............

Piquet Jr is gone and Gez know's what I think of that.

Schumi is back. I don't think I will kill his reputation. I mean worst case it will be like Mansell in 1995 or Jones in 85 and that didn't impact their careers or legacies to bad. Or it might be like Andretti in 1982 grabbing a last bit of glory with Ferrari.

Either way I can't wait for Valencia.

The less Piquet the better Gulli

Now the bad news.... Schumacher has cancelled his comeback, Badoer to fill in :(

Valencia and especially Spa would have been amazing but it was too good to be true.

Ferrari need to get Badoer out of that car pronto. Throw Bourdais, Sato or Davidson in there.
