I wouldn't bet on a rookie.

Houston, match super team with super team

People are saying it means them needing to give up on Capela...and while he's not a star, I think he's too valueable within that team to give up. With LeBron I think they'll have to start playing slightly differently too, and Paul is also ageing. Still Paul, Harden, LeBron will be good for at least 1 championship run. But if he's looking to 3-4 years ahead, Philly does sound more enticing, but Boston looks to be a tough foe to battle with in those years also.
I think there's no clear cut obvious choice at this moment.

I think they can keep Capela if they commit to losing some other players like Gordon, Ariza, Tucker. If Cleveland agreed to a sign and trade to get Capela it might be worth just doing that and keeping all the other guys though, especially since the team to beat is GSW where Capela had trouble playing

Post subject:  Re: NBA Thread - 2018 Playoffs!!

I didn't watch the GSW-Houston series enough to judge on Capela in that regard, but in that case he's not as much of an important cog as I thought.

GSW is the team to beat, so if LeBron wants titles, which, why wouldn't he, his decision should be based on that. But I heard a comment elsewhere that said, having an easier path to the final for the chance to play them then, is worth something too. In that case staying in the East might be better. I really wonder how good Boston could be.

The Celtics could be ice cold and trade Kyrie (for Kawhi?) to get LBJ, but kind of feel like that would be a disrespectful move by Lebron.

I don't think Lakers will succeed in getting Lebron, Kawhi and George. Spurs don't want to trade Kawhi to their Western Conference rival, and it doesn't help that they'll have no interest in one of the Lakers best trade assets Lonzo, Pop isn't spending his last few years wanting to strangle LaVar.

Greek the Freak + Lebron + Kawhi

Lebron isn't going to any team in the West. He likes staying in the East to face chump/choke teams and keep that stupid Finals streak alive. Well...I guess he could do a Durant and go to the Warriors.

I think we can at least write the Spurs off now Kawhi is out of there.
IF there's the possibility to play George and Kawhi in LA I'm sure he won't pass up on that.

If even possible I think he'd like to play in Miami again with Wade if Kawhi would be able to join them there.

Rockets remains steady choice to play next to the MVP, and I'd still like to see Melo and LeBron on one team, but not sure where that's possible.

Lebron should go to OKC to create a team of death with Westbrook.

Where LeBron is the ultimate team player, Westrook is the ultimate opposite.

It would literally be a team that would die at the hands of other teams.

But sure the marvel of such super physical and talented competitors on one team is something you'd want to see play for a season.

I think we can rule out Lebron going back to the Cavs

Nor do I.

Just when it seems like LA wasn't a big deal any more.

I am guessing a lifestyle choice and where Bron, Jr. and his wife wanted to live + in terms of supporting cast he is going to chill and wait for Magic to do his things with other free agents. Even if Spurs are stubborn they could sign Kawhi next offseason, Butler is a free agent next offseason too, or maybe after Warriors 3peat Durant will just pack his bags and go play with Lebron and be a Laker

Thanks Lebron! The Celtics will now steamroll through the East and the good teams in the West will beat the shit out of each other.

i think LaVar Ball was already in Lebron's circle, and may have actually been a draw for LeBron. Last month LaVar was a guest on The Herd and "predicted" both Lebron coming to Lakers AND Paul George not coming. I was quite surprised at the time why he was talking down PG during the interview, but in hindsight he must've had insider information for both. I think Lebron likes seeing how LaVar promotes his sons and businesses and wants to replicate the same for his own son. I think Lonzo is not being traded.

No one would take Ball at this point with his torn meniscus and his dad still looming over him.

I think if I'm the Rockets I'm happy if the Warriors are starting injured Cousins minutes in a playoff series

Boogie to the Warriors is almost as upsetting as LeBron leaving my favorite team (Again). Like WTF why is this allowed to happen? And they might as well add Carmelo too once he gets waived by OKC.
